Thank you everybody! There is a support group meeting once a month in UC irvine.

I finally found a doctor here in Orange County, Dr. Quebbemann in Newport Beach from the N.E.W. program and they also have a support group every other Tuesday. He is going to do my surgery on May 6th. He started quoting me 18k but I was able to talk him down to 14K. I thought on going to Mexico but my husband insisted to do it close to home. I wish you all the best and I'm look forward to stay in touch. I'm a little stressed out and I may be looking for support from all of you. To imagine.dream.inspire: where in Southern Ca are you?

Nigella, let's be friends and maybe we can meet at a support group. I have a few friends in Dana Point, I spend most of my life in Laguna Beach where I went to school and work sometimes. When did you have your surgery and do you have any regrets? Thank you

Thank you. Please let me know how hard your first two weeks after surgery have been! I'm not that confident that I'm going to survive all this stress.

Still finding my way around this forum. I live in Calimesa...45 miles west of Palm Springs, about 70 miles east of Los Angeles just off of I-10. Surgery in five days. Had the final pre-op tests this morning. I am excited and of course a little nervous. I am self pay, and this is my 70th Birthday gift to myself, surgery is 9 days before my birthday. I am beginning a new chapter in my life.

It is a very good thing!!

:party4:Enjoying the happy dance for the new me.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
