I was banded 6 days ago, but I've lost 40 lbs since Aug 1st doing low carb/pre-op diet. That's a lot in only 2 months!!! What is too fast? Will this slow down soon?

Not sure how much IS too much, I do know the bigger you are the faster you lose in the beginning, so yes, it will slow down.

This really makes me go back and follow a low-carb lifestyle again.

If you're losing weight in a healthy manner- enough calories, enough Protein, not junk calories- then don't worry about the speed at which you lose. Your body will regulate itself soon enough and you'll miss the days the weight just melted off,

For the record, I lost 44 pounds in the first 6 weeks after surgery and continued to lose at least 20 pounds a month for the first 6 months. Now, I am lucky if I lose 5-8 pounds a month. The lower the scale goes the slower the weight come off because your body is much more resistant to let it go.

You're fine :)

The 100 carbs or lower per day diet melted it right off. Definitely try it again! It helped me get into control of my eating--I felt like a drug addict with sugar and carbs. I've been sugar free since Aug 1st and feel better than ever.

Mis, yes I am being healthy--just worried about getting my Protein and liquids in. I guess I will feel better once I move thru the stages.

It will get A LOT easier once you're past the post op diet, I promise. I know when I was on the liquids and mushy phases I was lucky to get in maybe 30-40g of Protein per day. It was just really hard!

You're doing really great!

100 grams of carbs, plus the Protein requirements, plus healthy fats, PLUS Water.... Sheesh!! It sounds like SO MUCH food vs what we had before, and it never seem to be enough.... I LOVE MY BAND!!

Btw, I've been in my closet today (the side I DON'T use) and I've tried about 4 old jeans.... They all fit!! STOKED!

Currently getting I'm my swimsuit to take the daughter & nephew to the Y

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
