I eat lunch at the Senior Center each week day. When I get there I smell fresh coffee. I have to sip a half cup! I don't drink during my meal, but it is tempting to have another half cup with friends when visiting afterwards. Life puts so many things in front of us each day! Exactly what is it that the mealtime liquid does? When home or eating out I have no problem. I'm just think in' . . . . :o

Is there a specific even that you can point to as the cause of the slip? Thank God you've got your new band! Take care!

I have felt the warning signs when drinking while eating, or close thereafter when food is still in the pouch...extreme pain...it is the pouch suddenly becoming over-inflated from the food being there, then suddenly adding Water...perhaps doubling the volume all at once....So I will NEVER do it....learned the hard way.

I'm curious, for my own research, how long were you banded before you had the slip????

I read that the food doesn't actually sit in our pouch, but goes through in about a minute...and that's why we have to wait a minute in between the bites ???³. I don't drink with my meals just because I noticed that I can eat more if I drink. Can you explain what actually caused your slip please?

I had a major slip 2 years ago, and had my readjustment in October of 2011. You are right, chew, and then some. Best wishes, Karen

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
