I am 8 days post op and could eat a horse. My husband just left for night shift and these are the times when I usually binge my brains out because I don't have the guilt of eating in front of someone. Now since I am still healing I am sticking to band size portions (1/2 cup) and trying to stay busy. I just hate that the way I deal with being lonely, or bored, or sad, or happy is to eat my weight in crap. Going to make a cup of hot tea and read to try and keep my mind off food until dinner time. Just needed to vent. :-)

yeah I used to eat at night after my husband went to bed.. it's hard to break that habit.. I started taking a hot bath, drinking lots of Water and hot tea does help... the days before your first fill are difficult cause you don't have restriction ..depending on your Dr.'s orders you might see if you can drink a Protein Shake instead of eating something crappy..

I won't even sugar coat it- it's hard. I was the exact same way. I wouldn't think twice about eating a whole cake, or a big bag of candy, or a box of Little Debbies. Like you, I only did it when I was alone so no one else could see my gluttony.

My best advice to get all trigger foods out of the house. This way, if you are tempted to give into the urge to binge, you have to physically leave the house and go to the store to get the food to binge on. The majority of the time that alone will stop you.

Hang in there, you can do this.

I think if I could eat "normal" Proteins and have a chicken salad or something substantial I would be more able to deal. But I knew what I signed up for and this is just temporary.

"I am 8 days post op and could eat a horse"

Once you've healed, try horsemeat. That'll spoil your appetite! ;)

Hahha. Gagging at the thought. That really is a gross saying.

You can do it!!! I'm only 4 weeks out, but I can eat real food now so I don't struggle so much right now. But when I was first banded and had the urge to binge, I would come on this site and read old threads. It helped me realize I'm not alone, and if others did it, so can I!! Hang in there!

Carrie...I am sitting in my little brothers bedroom right now as my family is having a pizza party. pizza is one of my binge foods. In my own home, I have cleared my other binge foods out of the house (cookies, chocolate candy) and replaced with SF pudding, Jello, popcicles etc. I am a single mom to a wonderful 8 year old boy, but my nights are very long and lonely. I would be lying to you if I didn't say I that I missed peanut m & m's.

I'm a 6 days out and feel the the same way. I find. That occupying my time reading blogs ( as sick as this sounds my favorite is called 300 sandwiches, I focus in the story not the food) or finding new games to play on my iPad have helped. I also go and take walks around outside.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
