Omg, ate my first ground meal

Recommended Posts

Ugh, I ate my first ground meal (2 ounces of ground turkey meat ) and now I am feeling horrible. I am supposed to eat 3 ounces but has to stop at 2. I have been looking forward to this meal for 18 days and now...this is not how I pictured it would be.

Oh dear, so sorry! Go easy -- I am not banded yet but am hearing that food compatibility can really change after the surgery. Hope you have a good weekend. Just know you're well on our way, it's all happening. You will have to tell me all this six-eight weeks from now!

Someone on here maybe under food/nutrition gave her mushie chicken salad recipe and I added brocchli and pimento. Yummy! Went down good after food process. Its chicken, sweet relish, little mayo, Greek yogurt. Very tasty!! Hope u feel better.

Ground turkey might not have been your best choice for your first meal, it doesn't always go down right. Try things that smash to paste with a fork....canned tuna and chicken were my best friends during that stage and even now the ground meat has to be really juicy to work out.

I make ground turkey with sautéed onions, refried and black Beans, and a drained can of diced tomatoes. Toss in a little salt, pepper & garlic, and it's a great high Protein pot of band friendly food. I'm 6.5 months out, and still make this every week. Had it tonight...as a matter of fact.

Try fixing things in a sauce. I also take very lean ground beef, with sautéed onions, mushrooms, and a bottle of red three cheese Pasta sauce from Trader Joe's. It's like a hearty meat sauce, but we eat it without the Pasta. Another very good band friendly meal.

Thank you everyone!! From your posts it sounds like the turkey may not have been wet enough. Thank you for the recipe suggestions also. I wrote them down and will try them!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
