Recommended Posts

Hi all can anyone tell me what they think.. i wake up at 7am every morning and i have absolutley no appetite so i make a cup of tea and get on with my morning.. i dont get hungry until about 11ish, and by then i think theres no point in eating now because i will be having lunch at 12.30.. is this ok? Should i be trying to get something down earlier?

I believe you need to eat a Protein rich Breakfast to get your metabolism started, but if you are not hungry I don't think you should force yourself to eat either. Maybe have a string cheese or something in the morning so that you at least don't have an empty stomach?

I believe there is significant new data out on the whole breakfast thing which suggests non-breakfast eaters may be just fine (vs. former theories about that being why we are overweight, if we'd only eat a good breakfast and start the day off "right," fire up the metabolism, etc.)....turns out it's a lot more complicated than that and every one is different. I would say that if your body is asking for food at 11 then that's the perfect time to give it some Protein. Pre-band here, but really looking forward to being able to listen to my body and interpreting the signals, ones I can trust. This is something that has really broken down for me over the years of struggling with weight issues. Good luck to you and let us know what you work out for yourself!

I'm not a Breakfast person either, at least not when I first get up. I take a couple hours to drink my morning cup of coffee . Later on I have either a Protein Shake or Greek yogurt mixed with fruit and oatmeal or a Protein Meal Replacement Bar. Since it's usually ten or eleven o'clock by the time I have breakfast I don't eat lunch until mid afternoon and it's usually a real light meal so that I will be ready for supper at a reasonable hour. I'm finding that I am getting up earlier in the mornings as time goes on and staying up later at night (more energy) so sometimes I get hungry around bedtime . If that happens I eat a low fat cheese stick or a Protein Bar . So far this seems to be working for me. It doesn't seem to matter what time I eat my meals as long as I make sure to eat the right foods to fuel my body.

Breakfast is my least favorite meal, but whether I'm hungry or not, I have to eat something to keep my blood sugar balanced. Since being banded, many times it's a Protein shake. I may drink half, and then have an egg or some cottage cheese a couple of hours later. If I didn't have blood sugar issues, I would be perfectly happy skipping breakfast all together.

I agree with some of the posters above......have something small, even if it's in liquid form (with protein).

I also think it is good to get something in your stomach an hour or 2 after you've been up at the latest. A Protein Shake would be perfect.

Thanks for all the help! I have been trying a banana and Protein shake.. but its a bit too thick and i only get a little bit down.

But it holds me for quite a while.. ill stick with that and see how i go.... i feel a bit better knowing ive had something....

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
