Day 3 post-op and I'm really hungry. My doctor has me on Clear Liquids until day 7, but I just can't seem to get enough "food" in me. Help!

I'm sipping and sipping and sipping lol. I actually can't add Protein until day 7. The diet I'm on is much different than what I've seen posted here. Day 7-20 I'm on full liquids then I go to puréed foods for 2 weeks, 1 week at soft foods then to a 'regular' diet.

You're on a diet similar to the one I had.

Week 1-2 clear liquids

Week 3-4 full liquids

Week 5-6 mushies

Week 7-8 soft food

Then finally real food again

I won't lie, I was hungry all the time for the first 4 weeks and it sucked. But, it's a temporary and necessary phase to heal properly. I'm proud to say I didn't cheat at all despite being starving.

Hang in there, you'll get through it too :)

Yea it's a hard diet. I was on Protein Shakes for 12 days prior to surgery. I haven't had to chew food in what seems like forever. I miss it! Lol. No matter what I'm going to stick with the diet. The last thing I want is band complications. ???€

You can do this. I'm day whatever it is now and the hunger pains come and go. What seemed to work for me was to constantly be sipping. Be sure and use all your options too. I drank every single thing that I was allowed. That way I never felt like all I was drinking was Water, or broth, or apple juice, or white grape juice, or Popsicles. I never felt cheated on the clear liquids. When I felt hungry I would just change it up. Speaking of which, I'm hungry now. Time for some MIO!!

It is probably more head hunger than you realize, you want to eat food because you can't eat food and you don't feel "full" on the liquids. You will never again feel "full" the way you were used to. My suggestion is to KEEP BUSY!! Read a fun novel, make some fall crafts, go for a walk, etc, etc. You will be amazed how fast this phase goes!

I was that way too! I felt like I was starving. Called my dr and asked if I could try a Special K Protein shake and they said yes. I felt much better and it really pulled me through! Plus I could tell my body began to adjust. I'm feeling much better now - day 7 post op!

Wow I was one clear liquids for 1 day, full liquids for 4 days and then "mushies" for 2 weeks then solids...I would die being on clear or even full liquids for that long! Best of luck!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.

Lost my Pup last month and struggled really hard for that first month. Stopped tracking intake and slid into old habits here and there. Also quit working out. Can't walk in the neighborhood because of all of the memories we shared. Losing my Pup is the most heartbreaking thing I've ever been through. My Pup was my world 💔
Talked to my doc during my one year followup and they were not worried about my current status. They know, and I know, that I will get back on track.

I'm so sorry. I lost my pup (Mr. Bitters - a chocolate Pomeranian) 2 years ago and it still makes me tear up. He was my everything - my constant companion. I understand. Do the best you can to get back on track.
