I still wouldn't trade it for the world

Tess, oh my goodness! What was the problem? Was your band out of position? Glad to hear you're recovering and still have a band. Take it easy and help quickly!

yes my band had started to slip they had hoped they could just adjust it. but, then I was scheduled for a band removal and VG band placement. so I think that's what happened I left the hospital 9 hours after my surgery so I haven't talked to the surgeon yet, just an hospital intern who really didn't know much

So, you switched from a smaller band to the VG? Wow. I'm so glad you are feeling better. You mentioned this on another thread (the GFG?) and I'm glad you posted your own. Let us know what your doc says at your next follow-up!

OK went to the doctors yesterday, everything looks good. I received a VG band and have to start all over except for the food stages I can go to soft and not have to live on liquids, the only issue will be I have no restriction and wont for about 3 weeks, they will do my first fill June 14. I feel lucky to have been able to have a new band put in. now my personal goal is to not gain any weight, weight in at office at 184

Hey Tess *hugs*

I'm so happy to hear that things are going well now, and that your band problems are resolved. I'm sure it feels great to be able to eat again with no pain. Just like when you were first banded, try not to worry too much about the weight loss until you've had a fill. Right now, forcus on healing and taking care of yourself. Keep us posted on how you're doing!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
