First fill after 2 months

Recommended Posts

Hi bandsters, i was banded in january 2012 and im down almost 100 lbs. i had my last unfill August 2 due to it being to tight and not being able to eat at all. My next fill appt is October 14, I have Been on a couple of vacations and can tell I've gained weight probably 10 pounds so I'm very discouraged and upset with my self, has anyone else fell off the wagon and with the fill should be able to get back on track right ??

It depends. Are you hungry all the time or just eating too much? If your problem is physical hunger, then yes a fill could help. If you're eating too much or too often regardless of hunger, then no a fill isn't likely to help.

You have to remember, the band is there to control your physical hunger not control what or how much you eat.

Best wishes.

Sabra: First off this isn't a Track your on it's a LIFESTYLE change. ;) and WOW!! :o 100 lbs you should be thrilled. I know ppl that would eat off their right arm to lose 100 lbs (ok.. bad analogy) remember Life happens, so does vacation. stress, Water gain,etc.. you get the picture ;) And yes, you can get a fill and get back to your lifestyle change. But If you said you weren't able to eat anything it's BEST you got saline removed that's NOT the way to lose weight with a band. We didn't get over weight overnight it's going to take time *SIGH* patience is a Virtue.. And Congratulations!! Continued Good Luck in your losing.

Thanks for the encouragement. And yes I'm hungry all the time!! I hate that and since I have no restriction I crave things I know I should not be eating. I do very well when the band is tight. So until I go to the doctor I'm trying to focus in better foods and getting my Protein since I've noticed my hair falling out at well. I know it's a lifestyle change and that I have to do my part I'm just ready to get back on track. Thanks again

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
