Hi I'm a newbie on this site well when I say newbie I mean I hardly ever comment but am reading posts almost every other day! But now I need some advise, at lunch time today I ate some coleslaw and Beans and got stuck after one spoon ful, was in college all day so thought it would just shift itself but hasn't it has got progressively got worse. I'm bringing up slime all the time and am so sore! ! Has anyone any suggestions PLEASE. I really don't know if the food is stuck or if I'm just very swollen from the stuck episode. Btw I have a 10cc band in since Feb and am losing slowly but steadily. Thanks for any advise

when that happens to me, I sip hot tea and the hot liquid seems to hurry it along. You can use what ever your favorite hot beverage is. This happens sometimes stuff will just hit your pouch funny and cause that. If it doesn't clear up today I would call my doc and get suggestions. Good Luck, keep us posted...Melissa

Maybe you didn't chew enough. Walking helps me when I get stuck. For dinner maybe something like Soup or a shake. If you don't feel better soon call your doctors office

Thanks I will try and have a cuppa tea so fingers crossed. Im not too optimistic as I can't even keep Water down:-( this has to be the worst part of being banded.

Thanks so much for advice

I've never been stuck, but I've heard that papaya enzymes are good for clearing things out. Might be worth a shot. Good luck! :)

Many times when we tighten up and are unable to eat and get stuck we also tend to stop drinking. When we dehydrate it tightens us even further until we cannot even swallow our own spit. In cases like this I would always take some liquid motrin and then drink TONS of Fluid. Other than that, take small bites, chew chew chew, and eat slow. Good luck!

You may have swallowed a bean and eventually your stomach acids will break it down and it will all pass. I've never been stuck longer than an hour so if it goes beyond 4 hours you should consult your doctor or ER. Usually acids will break down all foods to a Fluid state and that's why 4 hours of being stuck should be your max limit. JMO

Like Tracie71 said, I had read here on the site before and it was a lifesaver, when stuck pretty bad, I take a few sips of a carbonated beverage and within a few seconds it all comes back up and usually relieves my discomfort. I then stick with liquids for the rest of the day. Things will be swollen for a bit. My longest stuck episode was about 6 hours, was ready to go to the ER, but knew my surgeon was out of town and it was a newer practice, didn't know if anyone would be able to help me. He has since assured me his surgical partner would be able to help. If you can't get it to pass, please call your doctor. Feel better soon.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
