I was gave Roxicet for my pain yesterday and all it does is make me sleepy. I am calling the Dr when he gets into the office and going to have him call in something else. My pain levels are the same before and after I take the med. It is not really painful just very uncomfortable.

What pain meds did you have the best result with?

I was given Lortab. It's a liquid form of Vicodin and acetaminophen (Tylenol). It did make me a bit loopy, but it also made me not care much about the pain. It worked well for me, but not everyone likes it. Unfortunately, other than straight Tylenol, most of the pain meds have a drowsy side effect.

You might want to ask your doctor about Tramadol. It's one prescription pain med that isn't quite so "sleepy". However, I'm not sure that it's the right type of drug for post-surgical pain. I was given that for back issues, and I know they prescribe different types of meds for different types of pain.

Hi i am still pre op but i am givem tramadol for my arthritis pain and if u pain is moderate to severe i dont think tramadol will help it does nothing to help with arthritis pain. They give it as a broad spectram pain med i have also had it for tooth aches. The lortab i tjink would work best for moderate to severe but it will limit what u can do like driving.

I was given percecet- don't remember the dose. It worked great, as said, any pain med is going to have a sedative effect. I didn't feel loopy on the percecet and only needed it for a few days. Congrats on your surgery!

Liq Lortab

I am just waiting for the pharmacy to call to go pick up my new meds. I was prescribed tylenol 3. I know it works for me. Well it did when I had my wisdom teeth removed. I know to stay away from the Percocet family unless I am having trouble sleeping.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
