Andddd ive lost 11 lbs!! Not too much but enough to make this girl a happy camper :) any suggestions on what you guys have made for your mushy stage? I dont wanna eat the same things all the time and get tired of it! So any ideas would be greatly appreciated :)

I have been surprised by how much I've liked the Progresso 99% Fat Free Lentil Soup. I use my immersion blender to smoosh it up (technical term..smoosh). I've really enjoyed it. In fact, I need to go smoosh up the new can I bought yesterday...

Lentils are in the legume family...so it's a type of bean.

Lentils are legumes and they are high in Protein -- and delicious! There are black lentils (French), red lentils, brown, green, etc. A great staple to have in the house. Yummy cooked in chicken stock, which also ups the Protein. Saute an onion and some garlic, carrots, etc. -- whatever you like -- and then add the lentils and the Water or stock. Can use salt & pepper or many people love them with curry spices like cumin. Put the lid on and simmer until they are done -- maybe 20 minutes or so. The Progresso lentil Soup is quite delicious also.

Other ideas -- steam a head of cauliflower then cut it up and smoosh thoroughly (yes, great culinary term!) while adding chicken stock to get the consistency you like. Delicious -- like pudding. I like coriander in this.

Smooshed cauliflower made me giggle like a little girl when I ate it last week. I'm going to smoosh some more this week.

I read somewhere someone goes to taco bell and gets a chicken soft taco and a side of refried Beans, smooshes up the refried beans with the guts of the soft taco (throwing away the shell). Supposed to be delicious! Can't wait until I can get to mushies. I have to wait until 10/13...grrr

Oh i lived on chicken salad. Canned chicken pulsed in the food processer mixed with a Greek yogurt/mayo and some sweet relish. I made tons of this in my mushy stage. I still eat it all the toner...i just don't put in food processor any more.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
