finallytime 134 Posted September 28, 2013 I've had the band since 12/14 and have lost 81 lbs and have been pretty proud that I have been doing this without any fills. But this week I somehow have gone up 4lbs! So I think it may be time for a fill as I 'grazed' all day yesterday and when I added it up... To my shock it was 1600 calories!! I haven't had a day like that since I started. I always stay between 1000-1200 a day and have only drank a handful of times since I have been banded, but it just may be time. Was hoping my sheer will and exercise ( I run 3-5 miles 4 days a week) would have been enough. Truth be told 9 months in I am actually scared to get a fill- does it hurt? SandyM 1,956 Posted September 28, 2013 Just when they put it in, but it goes pretty fast. Kinda like the flu shot.....maybe a little worse. You'll be fine.
Shazam 517 Posted September 28, 2013 Well yes you should have a fill for a number of reasons. And one is as you get smaller, you have a possibility to become prone to slipping of the band. At least that is what my doc told me
Shazam 517 Posted September 28, 2013 Oh and no it doesn't hurt. I was nervous at first. It's better than getting blood drawn. Honest. Just weird at first. But after you get it, I was like "that was easy" !! And it's so easy after that. And I hate needles. 1 Bandista reacted to this
Bandista 7,466 Posted September 28, 2013 81 pounds -- way to go! And good for you for paying attention to your body and looking into keeping your band adjusted properly. Best wishes for continued success.
blondegal_ 1,028 Posted September 28, 2013 You've done great but it need not be by sheer will. Use your band to its full capabilities. A fill will hurt just a little but it can help you tremendously. And don't be afraid to go get a second, third, fourth fill. The band is designed to be filled. Best of luck.
