sc1586 18 Posted September 28, 2013 I'm only 2.5 weeks post op. I've been asked on 2 dates since being banded and they do not know of my decision with the band. I'm kinda nervous how to get around this. The one suggested coffee so it's perfect. The other suggested dinner or drinks. Any suggestions on how to avoid that or do I just tell him my restrictions right now? Suggestions. I suppose if we go to a place with salmon I'll be fine, don't have to purée it. DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! 12,703 Posted September 28, 2013 Personally, I'd avoid food/dinner dates entirely until you're past the post op diet. As far as dating in general, I started seeing my current boyfriend 7 months after getting my Lap Band. I didn't tell him right away, but as soon as I realized I actually liked him I told him everything. I figured I'd rather have him reject me sooner than later if it wasn't something he could deal with- plus I didn't want anyone who couldn't accept me for me. Luckily, he was extremely supportive right from the start. In fact, he has become my biggest cheerleader and it always so encouraging. (btw, we're obviously still together and now live together too!) 5 katie2244, labwalker, JOANNE M HOLL and 2 others reacted to this

Help My guy friend was my biggest supporter going into this. We have always shared food when eating out, only now I don't buy a meal one does us both! I tell him I'm a cheap date!! Have fun and don't let this be a stumbling block for your personal life, embrace it and move forward! 3 JOANNE M HOLL, ☠carolinagirl☠ and DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! reacted to this
ChicagoRose 650 Posted September 28, 2013 How exciting!! I would just say that you are having some dietary issues and could you please meet up for coffee instead. I doubt he will press the issue if he is interested in you. When you feel like the time is right, you can share your story, and I bet whoever you share it with will be super excited to journey through your transformation with you. 4 DELETE THIS ACCOUNT!, labwalker, ☠carolinagirl☠ and 1 other reacted to this
