GeorgiaGirlie 6 Posted September 27, 2013 I just received a notice that my employer is changing to United Healthcare from BCBS effective 1/1/14. I'm super pissed about that. However, I want to know if my fills will be covered by UH. I'm getting really worried because I'm having trouble finding my doctor that does my fills in the "in-network" database. Has anyone ever had to go through this? Should I just call my doctor to see if they accept UH? With BCBS, I didn't have to pay any copays. Does anyone with UH have to pay copays? Any help and guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Bandista 7,466 Posted September 30, 2013 I have United PPO but every policy is different depending on the state and what the employer has negotiated with the insurance company. My surgery is covered at 90% but a few months ago it was 100% (grrr....), follow up visits are a $25 co-pay. I would call United to see if your doctor and facility are in-network and find out about the out of network co-pay if not. If the doctor and facility are not listed ask what it takes for them to become an in-network provider. Maybe your doctor would like to do that if he/she is not listed as there are such big changes in insurance coverage everywhere now. Good luck!
