Differences in post op diets!

Recommended Posts

Just reading through the recently banded members' post op diets are mind blowing to me! I can't believe the drastic difference from Doctor to Doctor. But I shouldn't really be surprised, especially since I work in healthcare and know how things usually go. lol :) Heck, even the information I received from the dietician differs from the information they sent me home from the hospital with. The dietician said I would be on clears for the first day, then full liquids for two weeks, then soft foods, then regular foods at one month post op. When they sent me home from the hospital, they told me to stay on clears for two days, and then eat a soft diet until I follow up with the surgeon next week. At day two post op, I've mostly done clears with a couple full liquid items like pudding and yogurt. I really honestly have no appetite at all due to the severe gas pains I'm having. I feel like I need to let out the biggest burp of my life, and it just won't come out!

Yup, there is no consensus for pre and post op diets. There's no consensus on drinking while eating or how to fill and when to fill. Kind of crazy aint it? But, it still works for most of us.

My hospital discharge instructions were also different than my surgeons instructions but I was told to follow my surgeon's instructions! So I did!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
