My band has slipped and I'm going to consult with a new doc next week for "fixes". I had a fluoro done Tuesday and when I asked him how to fix, he simply said, "call my office, make an appointment & we will discuss". I admit I was a little alarmed and started asking - Sleeve, fix this band, blah, blah blah. What I'm looking to hear is people's experience with a slipped band=gained weight 40lbs+ for me, and what the outcome was. I'm not uncomfortable, hungry really - I kind of just eat because it sounds good. I have no Fluid in the band now. Please share your experiences - good, bad and indifferent. I do "lift" for a living and one of my concerns is recovery time for lugging 20-30lb boxes. THANK YOU - Karen

Hi Bkhuffman, I am Karen, also. I had a slipped band back in 2011. The surgeon went in and adjusted it and did not need to replace it. I am in the "green zone" since repairing the slip. I have been green for about a year now. I had to have the .2 cc unfill to get me there. I am easily filled at 5 cc. Best wishes, I did not even think ab out replacing my band with a sleeve or anything else.

How did you know your band slipped?? I am at 9 cc on a 14cc band, and I can eat anything I the evenings, does this mean it's slipped?? Or that my pouch has stretched?? Thanks in advance.

I had a possible slip and my treatment was to have it un-filled and let it settle back into place. my symptoms were night time reflux, immediate feeling of throwing up no matter how much I ate and always feeling uncomfortable. I pretty much hated to eat because I felt like crap and it felt like a chore just to eat. after 3 months I had a ct scan to see how the band was and it was back in place. I honestly was hoping for a major slip because I am tired of fighting with my band. if I could I would opt for the old fashioned gastric bypass and be done with the band, I still am having issues and would recommend bypass instead, that's just my opinion.

I wish I'd never gotten the band. I don't have insurance that covers weightloss, so I'm stuck with a financial disaster. I've been fighting with the reflux for several years now, and they are again telling me that they think the band has slipped. First they thought it was, then they thought it wasn't, now they think it is again.... I don't know when this would have happened because I was super careful with my band. I didn't press my luck or misuse my band. I didn't over eat or do stupid stuff. I got the band because I thought it would prevent my spinal arthritis from getting worse if I could keep off the extra 40 lbs. I am posting here because I am terribly sad that this is happening. I worked really hard to create a life and leave behind the poverty from my childhood, and I finally scraped enough up to afford this great thing for myself.... now it's broken, and I feel like I just can't get a break. I'm just defeated.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
