micki91 43 Posted September 26, 2013 So tomorrow I start my full liquid diet and im not sure what to eat! What did u guys eat?
Christina2013 18 Posted September 26, 2013 I have been doing 3-4 Slimfast shakes a day, all the Water (flavored with crystal light!) I can drink, sugar free Jello, sugar free popsicles, clear broth, and when I really need something to chew I have been sucking on sugar free hard candies. I won't lie and say it's all been easy. I have to do 3 weeks and I am in my 3rd week right now. I haven't been perfect and had some slips, but just keep telling yourself it will be worth it! Hope you have a better time with yours and if you ever feel like it's impossible, just get back on here and you will get tons of inspiration! How long do you have to do it? Christina2013 18 Posted September 26, 2013 I know how it feels, I am still doing the pre-op diet, and I just cannot get full. I called my doc and they said I won't get full! It sucks but I know it will be worth it. You are doing great and will be eating again soon!
ChicagoRose 650 Posted September 26, 2013 You won't be "full" anymore as you know it. Try and focus on being "satisfied". To do this you need the highest amount of Protein for your buck. My bariatric center which is in our hospital sold me New Directions Protein Shakes but I think the Atkins Advantage brand at your local grocery store are a close alternative. Also, LOTS of Water, tea, or other calorie free non-carbonated drinks in between keep you from feeling too hungry. I do still drink coffee also even though I have been recommended to be on a caffeine free diet as well, but that's my choice, not my advice!
MookNana 61 Posted September 26, 2013 Our instructions seem to be on the liberal side, which is nice. For our two weeks of full liquid we can have: Milk/Milk Alternatives Protein shakes (low sugar/carb) Low fat yogurt (with no chunks/fruit pieces) Low fat cream Soups (strained or pureed) sugar free pudding Cream of Wheat or oatmeal, thinned until it falls off the spoon. All Clear liquids (water, broth, sf popsicles, sf Jello, etc.) So far we're tolerating it all very well and while I'm looking forward to purees, if we mix up the flavors of the Soup, yogurt, pudding, and cereals there's just enough variety that I'm not going nuts. Plus I'm not hungry like I was before surgery. I still get hungry and things still sound good, but it's not that desperate, crazy hunger anymore.
dawalsh 919 Posted September 26, 2013 Don't forget sugar free Popsicles for hydration as well. There is also the no sugar added fudgecicles which are 40 calories. Make sure you have some kind of either chewable or gummie Vitamin daily as well.
