Long-time bandster

Recommended Posts

I'm new to this site and appreciate reading stories from other banded folks. I have had my band almost 10 1/2 years. I had really great success during the early years. I realized about 3 years in I had a very strong emotional component to my eating patterns so I regained a good bit of the weight I had lost. But no fault of the band. I still feel it is the best tool for weight-loss success. I originally lost 110 pounds after I had my surgery then regained probably 80 pounds. But I am back down 50 pounds and still a work in progress. **I went back and edited this post when I realized I can't add. I had my band placed May, 2003 so that would have been 10 years not 9!

Thank you! Probably like many others I feel far from being an inspiration. You have done extraordinarily well! Congratulations. I doubt they even make the size band I have. It is a 4 cc. band.

That's one of the things I like about the band... if you fall off the wagon, it is possible to climb back on. You are an inspiration!

Fantastic postive post... yes the good thing about the band is the redemption of oneself should you fall off the wagon... it's not 100% guaranteed to stop you from eating but if you use it properly you can greatly reduce the amount you eat and make good choices.. it's about control from what I can tell.

Ya'll sure know how to make an old gal feel welcome :D I really need to get back in contact with some other banded folks. And I believe this is the first time I've ever been recognized as a PooBa grand or otherwise!

Heya sunny,

I'm not as long term banded as you (5 years now) but due to a leak that hung around for 15 months, I put on weight as well. I've now gotten a replacement band and am learning from scratch the 'bandster lifestyle' of formal exercise, band portions and finding a good fill level for me. Happy to chat anytime about 'getting back into it' and the challenges the 2nd time around.

Grand Poobah is a term derived from the name of the haughty character Pooh-Bah in Gilbert and Sullivan's The Mikado (1885).[1] In this comic opera, Pooh-Bah holds numerous exalted offices, including "First Lord of the Treasury, Lord Chief Justice, Commander-in-Chief, Lord High Admiral... Archbishop of Titipu, and Lord Mayor" and Lord High Everything Else. The name has come to be used as a mocking title for someone self-important or high-ranking and who either exhibits an inflated self-regard or who has limited authority while taking impressive titles.[2] The formal term for the practice of holding multiple offices is "dual mandate".

Welcome. It is always great to hear from long time bandsters. The band life style is always a work in progress. Love to hear all your wisdom.

Thank you for sharing your story. We all have our ups and downs and I enjoy hearing about all of them except for the bashing of the band. I love mine and I am so much healthier because of it.

Have a great evening.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
