Happy to Report, Losing again.

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I just wanted to share my experience, because I have seen some threads about this, and maybe this can give some hope to some of you that are struggling.

I had my surgery on April 26th, and the first week after I lost about 16 lbs. (7kg) The next two weeks I lost nothing. I was disappointed and my nutritionist even told me I hadn't lost enough. (what does she know) All that together was making me feel really bad, so I was making some poor food choices trying to stick to the liquids/mushies thing. But every one here on lbt kept telling me this time was for healing and not weight loss, so i decided I wasn't going to worry about the scales any more.

By week 3, I could get down any thing I tried to eat with no problems, so I decided instead of trying to stick to something that wasn't working for me, I would just move to solid foods and make healthier food choices. And guess what? It worked! I feel full after eating very little food, but the food I'm eating is healthy solid food. I'm now about to start week 4, and all my body functions have returned to normal, and the best part? I started losing again! I'm losing around 100 to 200 grams a day, which should add up to about 1kg a week which is about 2.2lbs, that is excellent progress.

So don't loss hope guys, a week ago I would have told you I'm failing at this whole band thing, I guess I just didn't give it enough time. The weight loss will happen when your body is over the shock of the whole thing, and things can return to normal. Good luck to everyone!

That is great to hear Kat since I have followed your journey so far.

My original date was close to yours (April 21).

Don't give up and Good Luck:biggrin1:

Thanks, K@t,

I was band on May 1st, and, like you, dropped a lot of weight pretty quickly. I was really discouraged this morning when the scale said I had gained 3 pounds this week. I don't even know how that is possible since I have not been drinking more than about 11 calories a day.

I know this is supposed to be a time for healing, but it is still discouraging! Thanks for your post. I think I will have my husband hide the scale for now.

I read on here about peoples losing 10 pounds a month. (and They encourage me)

I lose about 3-5 pounds and I'm very happy to lose it slow as long as I lose lol.

I'm happy your back on the losing side LOL and I hope to join you soon!

Doing okay with my new fill so far :) Been empty for a few months and I gained back like 12 pounds :second:

I am on week 3 and terrified to eat solids. I do here and there, and feel guilty like I am tearing my stitches around the band. I was told you still want things to slide through easily and not make the stomach work. Hopefully it is not a big deal. I am sure happy for you. I hope going on to solids is ok. I know my bowels have been all screwed up for three weeks. Too much milk drinks I think. Anyway, good luck and congrats.

Weeks 3-4 are more mushie stage. What are you eating? They should be things you could eat if you didn't have teeth. It's supposed to be a gradual transition to solids. Don't rush too soon.

I have a good list of soft foods that my Dr. gave me. I can give it to you if you want.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
