I just want to share some of my joy..... Ive just returned from the uk back to ireland.(that part is not joyous) went for a review with my lap band lady..all good. last night my mum suggested quick trip to the supermarket. There was a beautiful wool dress. I eyed it up liked it..said "better try it on that won't ever fit me" ha ha it was too big!! Never thought i'd say those words... It Hung shapelessly on me.. I was so pleased I did a dance in the changing room.. When I started this process I was wearing the biggest size possible in the uk and ireland. Only certain styles and shapes fitted then. Happy as a pig in poop.

congratulations on a job well done, and better yet, well deserved.... it's the surprises of this nature that are the most enjoyable. It let's us know that we still have some changes to make in our mind set that we "can't".... that word is no longer in your vocabulary it would seem.... again congratulations!!!!

Thankyou thats so true.. I don't see changes when I look at myself. My head hasn't accepted things yet. I still feel monstrous.. That little victory has boosted my self esteem no end.. Thanks again. :)

Zingy that's an awesome story! I have clothes that used to fit me years ago when I was thinner and as I was cleaning out some of the storage (finally) I was shocked to find those clothes fit me!

So now all my "larger" size items I am bagging up and donating. So happy to be able to give them away and know I will never have to see that size on clothes again and looking forward to the next round of clean out when these hit the donation pile :)

Such a self-esteem boost -- so happy for you! It's fascinating how we see ourselves (or can't see ourselves). Congratulations on having so many more options available in the clothing department. I can't wait to be a regular size again and to be able to wear pretty things instead of what I think of as my uniform now. Have fun!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
