Yes, I know he did her surgery but I wonder if he would fill someone that had been banded in MX. Isnt there a post somewhere with a link to doctors across the US who would fill for patients that had surgery in MX?

For those that had it done in Louisville were there any upfront fees involved that weren't covered by insurance? Just curious as the hospital and DR that I am looking into I have to have about $500 upfront that isn't covered or sent in to be counted on the insurance.

I was self pay so I'm not sure of any up-front fees since I had to pay everything upfront.

I'm very happy with my doctor...

I was banded in Mexico. Dr Curry in Cincinnati does my fills. He has several mexico banded patients. Should be a 2 hr drive for you. 513-559-1222. Good luck. His staff are awesome, most of them have been banded themselves.

You might try Georgetown KY. I have phone number you can try if nothing else maybe they can give you information on who may be able to help. 888-868-0008 the name is Cathi Roskind email address is cathi.roskind@lpnt.net. That is a start anyway.

It is a lengthy process but well worth it. You will be overrun with information.

I think they want to make sure people are serious before giving the okay. It took me 5 months to get through the whole process and finally have surgery. Most of the time came from the insurance company doing their part.

I had surgery a month ago and would do it again in a minute. I had surgery at Georgetown KY and they have wonderful staff there. Very thorough. Alot of information. Just a super experience.

Good Luck!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
