I started the diet last Monday (on my own) and lost 6 pounds in 3 days. Since then I have stopped losing weight.

I offically started my pre-op diet on Thursday after visiting with my surgeon. I will admitt I cheated this weekend, but did not gain any weight back. It was difficult to do the diet around my boyfriend (I will try harder next weekend).

For meals I am having a fruit smoothie such as 1 cup of blueberries blended with 1 1/2 cups of plain almond milk, and 1 scoop of unflavored Protein Powder for Breakfast with my coffee (with 2 tbsp. half and half). For lunch I am having a Pure Protein vanilla shake and a fruit or vegetable (such as a banana or 10 baby carrots). For dinner I am eating a protein (like chicken breast or salmon) with a blended vegetable puree Soup (such as asparagus).

Does anyone have any tips to get past the after dinner hump? Anything that will satisfy a hunger pain for an extended period or task to keep me busy?

I am literally considering throwing out or boxing up any food that will trigger me overeating!

Thanks!

My BMI was 42 and I made my appointment for my surgery only four days prior. I was reassured that it didn't really matter, I should just have a 800-1200 calorie diet until surgery, that in reality, the liver takes three months to actually shrink considerably in size.

I did well and consumed only about 800-1000 calories until the eve of surgery when I had two slices of a medium pizza which my husband was eating, thinking it would be a long time before I was able to eat pizza again.

I asked my surgeon about my liver after surgery and he stated that it was enlarged but nothing he wasn't expecting.

I wouldn't advise anyone to do what I did at all, especially if it is against what you have been advised by your doctor, but boy am I glad that I didn't have to suffer the pre-op diet as the post op diet is bad enough!

What matters is that you are losing and reducing fat around your liver for pre-surgery. Keep it up and you will be fine.

I love Edy's sugar free popsciles. I buy the ones that have the Kiwi flavor in the box. They have a little more calories but the taste is super.

Also to get your mind off of food, polish your nails. You can't eat with wet nails. I have been that one for about 30 years.

Good luck with your new journey.

I am Pre-op liquid diet. I use new direction Meal Replacement system. shakes, hot chocolate, soup, and pudding. Pretty good stuff. 200 calories per. Best part 3 per day gives 100 % of MDR of lots of Vitamins

, 150% protein.

I used to use. pure Proteins shakes, (still do for fill ins or when I

Can not make a shake). Because they are Pre mixed and are 100 cals per. But they are not the right kind of protein and are not full of nutrients.

Li am in liquid diet phase. I am supposed to drink 60-80 oz of Water in addition to my shakes. Crystal light has margarita

And monitor flavors. A lil artificial rum flavoring..... And those. 80 ounces gt down pretty easily.

Also. V8 spicy ( 50 calories ) cut with Clam juice. ( zero calories). Helps fill me up. Horsh radish and Tobasco ( zero cals) help the V8.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
