eastindyguy 10 Posted September 24, 2013 Just got the call that I have been approved by my insurance company. Originally they had said that I was going to need to do six months of supervised weight loss to get approved, but they approved me after 2-1/2 or 3 months (forget the exact date we started). I've given them a set of dates that fits into my work schedule, and I should hopefully have my date later today or tomorrow. The only bummer is that my wife hasn't been approved yet. The insurance coordinator at our surgeons office is still working on her case and said that it may be one of those situations where one spouse is approved early and the other has to do the full six months (sounds odd to me but she said that is more common than I'd think). 1 A New New Dawn reacted to this

The Icy One 518 Posted September 24, 2013 Congratulations! Insurance companies probably do that hoping that one spouse will see what the other goes through and will decide to back out and save the company some money. Sneaky buggers. Anything to save a buck, you know. But even if your wife has to go the full six, she should still get her approval, too and you can be bandsters, together. A New New Dawn 1,695 Posted September 24, 2013 Congratulations. If you end up doing yours before your wife, at least you will be fully recovered and "experienced" to help her begin her journey! 1 southernqt reacted to this
eastindyguy 10 Posted September 26, 2013 Got the date for my surgery late yesterday. I'll be banded on 10/24. Having a date I great and exciting, but makes it a bit scary. Does that make sense to anyone? 1 Mz.Vickie reacted to this

Bandista 7,466 Posted September 26, 2013 That's great! I hope I am right behind you (waiting, waiting). It's great that you and your wife are doing this together. Even if the timing isn't matched at the very beginning, you'll be able to really help each other adapt to the new healthy new lifestyle and stick with it. Being male you are probably going to drop a lot faster than your wife -- it's just the way our bodies are. And you'll have this head start -- so she is going to need extra support and reassurance that she's on track. Gift certificates for facials come to mind.
