Pancakes

Recommended Posts

Today I found out that pancakes do not work for me. I was being good and only ordered a single pancake and it nearly killed me. I was stuck for an hour. It felt like a brick was stuck. OMG I will not do that again.

I've never tried one, because just the idea of something so fluffy and large tightens my band instinctively.

I can't eat any bread anymore. I use to love hamburgers and sandwiches and now I have to wrap the meat around a cheese stick or just get the hamburger without the bun. I found out quick that bread isn't for most banded people lol.

Yep my first ever "oh...is that stuck?" moment was while on vacation and eating a pancake. Like donuts I can certainly live without them but darn I do miss them and come Christmas morning when the whole family is eating them I know I will miss them a little more. Oh well, I made a choice to be healthy and I guess pancakes can't come for the ride!

Yes you do have to be careful with pancakes. I only eat them once every other month or so. They are not my friend anymore. When I do eat them, I only eat half of one and make sure it is really soft.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
