Are there any bandsters out there that can't live without cheese? I have always eaten and loved cheese; however, since being banded, it's like I can't live without it. I have to have a cheese stick, or slice or shredded cheese every single day. Can anyone else relate?

I have always loved cheese and still do! I buy the big bag of mini baby bell light cheeses at my local costco (wholesale club) and have one or two daily for only 50 calories each. Good Protein too so ENJOY =)

I eat lots of cheese! Honestly, I'd prefer good cheese to chocolate any day. At any given time, we have four or five different kinds in the fridge.

I eat cheese daily. It's a great snack because it's a source of Protein. I'm just careful to count the calories in my daily allowance.

I LOVE cheese! I always have a huge supply on hand. I wrap thinly sliced turkey around a stick of Weight Watcher's string cheese and it is delicious! I'm going to look and see if I can find any reviews on the Unjury cheese sauce.

my first year of banding i mostly lived on cheese. Laughing Cow and Crunchmaster multi grain crackers.... I also did the Rotel cheese dip.... see below for recipe:

Just remember to watch the intake of cheese.... too much and you may need a softener.... lol

  • 1 block (32 Oz. Block) fat free Velveeta Cheese
  • 1 package (8 Oz. Package) fat free Cream Cheese
  • 1 can (10 Oz. Can) Rotel
  • 1 can (10.75 Oz. Can) no sodium Cream Of Mushroom Soup
  • 1 pound Extra lean Ground Beef OR turkey (or A Combination Of Both)
  • Brown ground beef or turkey (or both) in a pan over medium heat and set aside. Cut up the Velveeta and cream cheese into cubes and place into a crock pot. Pour in the Rotel and the cream of mushroom Soup and stir ingredients together. Place the crock pot on low setting for an hour, letting the ingredients meld. After about 30 minutes, add the browned meat and continue to let cook, stirring as needed.

Have you tried the Unjury cheese sauce? I saw it online yesterday and it made me curious!

No, actually I haven't. I will check it out though. Thanks.

Thanks Mis for you response. I know I can always count on you. Our family does too. I just thought we were crazy to have three to four different kinds of cheese. I'm glad to know that I'm not alone.

I also keep a supply of chunk cheese in my fridge. I prefer extra sharp cheddar and usually cut it into 1/8 oz cubes. Whenever I feel a bit hungry before a meal 1-3 of those chunks usually hit the spot and tide me over much better than any "100 calorie pack" ever does.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
