I'm 20 days out of surgery. I've lost 21 lbs, but now I'm hungry and can eat anything. I'm trying very hard to stay on my mushies, but in the evening I feel like I'm starving...plus I have to cook for my family! I really want to make this work. October 9th can't get here soon enough...my first fill! Band hell sucks!!

Congrats on your loss thus far! Just stay strong, and remember this part won't last forever. Hang in there, you've got this!

Sounds like you're progressing wonderfully. Congrats on the loss! Swelling from surgery as went away and now you are HUNGRY/STARVING. Pretty typical and normal. Soon your surgeon will start adjusting your band to allow it to work. Until then, its just another diet. Do your best...and don't get disappointed if you don't see the scale going down right now. Lots of folks even gain a few pounds after getting back on solid food, prior to getting their band properly adjusted. Best wishes! :)

Hey Blue,

Most people start struggling in week 3-4 if they haven't already been suffering band hell. It's normal and it's definitely a challenge because we start to fixate on food. I know you'll make it through :) Congrats on the wl, that's fantastic. Hugs

i dont think losing 21 pounds is at a stand still....i consider that as you being successful...weight loss wont happen overnight as the weight did not go on overnight....to lose weight with WLS is a ongoing formula..the key is to keep moving forward with the instructions gave to you by your doctor for best results....and if you do, you will continue to do as well as you are.

PS, if hungry, drink more and or eat more Protein when you are able to eat and def stay busy...you can do it..look at how great you have done.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
