78 days laterrr.....

78 days post-op. yet I still can't even believe that I had the surgery. Doesn't feel real. I have so much going on, but this decision is always on my mind. I am doing well, but I can't help but think about my life without this surgery and what it might be like now. I am almost down 50+ pounds and am really overwhelmed, and excited! I am so blessed to have a family that supports me, but I wish I could just support myself. I feel like every time I get excited about something, the next thing to happen is either bad news, or saddening.

50 pounds is a huge deal! Try to stay positive! And we ALL need support....don't beat yourself up for needing your family. Some people on this board don't have families who support them, so WE have to support them! You are a step ahead for having people in your life who love you and want you to be healthy. Keep up the great work!

Hi Chloe -- congratulations on getting that weight off and remaining positive during difficult times.. Life is not easy sometimes, but what a difference it is to be able to navigate stress with a healthy body to help carry us through. Don't forget to pat yourself on the back and take a lot of deep breaths. Best wishes!

Hi Chloe. I'm just curious. Is your last name Houston or do you live in Houston? If you live in Houston we are meeting at the Galleria this Saturday at 2 p.m. at the food court by the ice rink.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
