Uh oh...starting to feel hungry...

Recommended Posts

Well, I have had 10 wonderful days since surgery with NO hunger. Today I went to the gym, did 40 minutes on the treadmill. I came home, worked around the house and then took my daughter and dog out for a 30 minute walk. Now I am HUNGRY! I am scared because I do not want to hurt the loss I have been able to accomplish. That first fill can't come soon enough....

After an intense workout most doctors recommend you injust some Protein. It will help replenish your muscles and keep you satisfied until your next meal. That's something that helps me.

I can't say it enough. Don't fear hunger. You should be hungry, it's normal to be hungry. As long as you are satisfied on your band sized portions, you're good to go. If you are not, then time for a fill. In time, you will also be able to distinguish real hunger from head hunger. Also...don't know if anyone else feels this way, but being hungry is a good feeling for me. And I mean real hunger. It's not something I was used to what with my eating all the damn time. But now, I look forward to it because I know it's a signal which I listen to, act on, and then move forward.

I don't know how to explain it other than to say that being in control is such a high..and a way better feeling than losing control and overeating or eating poorly.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
