Hello everyone! I have a quick question. I have 6.5 in an 11cc band. I was banded in March of this year. I have since lost 46 pounds! With this last fill (.5 cc) I have noticed that a lot of my food is getting stuck. I am having a hard time with small bites. The question is, since things are finally starting to get stuck, am I getting close to the green zone? Thanks for any feed back!

Congrats on your weight loss!

Getting stuck, or lack thereof, has nothing to do with whether or not you're in the Green Zone. In fact if you are getting stuck so often that you can't eat healthy foods it's a sign you're in the Red Zone. Getting stuck should never just be a way of life. If you're truly taking tiny bites, chewing it til mush, and pausing between bites yet still getting stuck you definitely don't want more Fluid in your band.

Being in the Green Zone is about hunger control. If you can be satisfied (not full) on a cup or less of food for at least 4 hours, you're likely in the Green Zone. If not, then you probably aren't.

Here's a link that should help you: http://drsimpson.net/fills/Lap-band-eating/lap-band-not-restriction/lap-band-and-restriction.html

Best wishes

Thank you! I know I am taking too big of bites. It is something I am working on. It is my fault I am getting stuck. But I am always hungry. I guess I do need more. Thanks for the advice and the link. I'm going to check it out now!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
