Just posted this in post op but I need as much feedback as possible ! :

So I'm having the hardest time deciding this ...

All I want is a cup of coffee. My doctors office told me it increases the risk of stomach cancer to have caffeine. But I know SO many banders that drink coffee ! Tomorrow I have to work from 7:30am to 10pm and I don't know how ill survive. Can 1 cup really hurt ? I was banded sept 6th so it's a little over 2 weeks. What do you guys think? Any coffee drinkers out there ?

I don't drink coffee but drink about 10-14 cups of hot and iced tea a day. I could not have caffeine for many many months after the band. I brew my own iced tea with Decaf bags, still. I do use decaf instant coffee in my chocolate Protein Shakes. Maybe time to learn to drink decaf. The doctors know best.

Good luck with everything.

Stomach cancer? That's a new one on me? I drink coffee every day. Only one or two cups.

I drink 1-2 cups a day, hot or iced. I have given up so much already, like pop, that I can't imagine it can kill me to keep having coffee. It's a lifestyle change, not meant to stop your life!

I drink a LOT of coffee. My doctor said don't drink your calories, nothing specific about coffee, but I can't live without the stuff. I have 3 cups a day on average at work, flat whites, no sugar. If I didn't, they'd get cranky lellow, and no one wants cranky lellow. So I figure I'm doing the world a community service really by making sure I get my caffeine.

I'm going into my 8th year of being banded. My doctor said coffee was fine.

I drink 2 medium coffees a day... sometimes 1 small, 1 medium... with 2 cream and sweetner... pre-band I drank 2 extra large coffee with cream. (everything in moderation).

I guess each doctor is different. I've had several physicals since being banded and am in great health.

Tom, Toronto

Banded July 6 06

Wt. Loss: 160 lbs

My doctor says just one cup a day,, because caffeine can cause dehydration. But I have pretty much gotten away from it, as I could not have it for the first 6 weeks I just sort of got out of the habit. However I went to coffee with my boyfriend tonight!!

I drink one sometimes two cups a day. I add a scoop of Unjury Protein Powder to it. I would never get all my Proteins in otherwise.

I would never get through the day without my coffee to start out. There are studies both ways, good and bad. It is a stimulant for me, and tea does not do it! Best wishes, and try following doctors orders!

I make an iced coffee with Unjury and soy milk every morning. It gets me through the day.

I made an iced coffee with 1 scoop vanilla Unjury, 1 K cup from my keurig, 1c skim milk, and 3tbs sugar free Creamer. Delicious and 37 grams of protein!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
