Very normal. We all go through it and we all survive it. Actually, my post op diet was much worse and stricter than yours. I was in liquids for 4 weeks after.

Just remember, this is a very short term part of the journey. Your stomach has been sutured, manipulated, squeezed, and overall traumatized. It needs this time to heal so you don't cause major damage.

Hang in there.

I was too afraid of what could go wrong if I did not follow the rules. Never once did I think of eating or drinking something that was not on my list. I knew post-op was not forever. Maybe try a little harder. Do something that takes your mind off of food. 2 weeks after getting the band, I was still on liquids, it was my brother's birthday. He is mentally challenged and doesn't know about the band, I took him out for a steak dinner and had a glass of iced tea. I watched as he ate, my husband ate and you just do what you have to do. Suck it up.

Hang in there, it will soon pass. If there's someone who could cook when you are having your moments might help. If not, try drinking some liquids before you start cooking or cook things that they like but you don't. :-)

I pretty much begged my family to go out and eat without me. Or I would have my husband bring food home for him and the kids and I would go out for a walk while they had dinner. It's all a mind game. Sounds like you will be on solids much quicker than I was anyways so lucky you!!

It's very hard to cook meals for your family and to just have surgery! I had my surgery 9/13 and I'm cooking for my husband and two girls every single night and it's been hard. I just get my broth ready in a mug and a glass of unsweetened tea and sip my broth while they are eating. It makes me feel like I'm eating with them. The warm broth helps to make me satisfied. Also I love warm tea too - they help me at least:) hope it gets better for you ;)

Thanks for all ur replies everyone I appreiachate it I'm trying I guess it's getting better I'm down 6 lbs since surguery and that's what I needed to see the doc said weight loss will slow up a little until u get my first fill in 5 weeks! The protine shakes are nasty as hell for me too and so I just been drinking Water and taking my Vitamins I feel like damn if I kept this up I wouldn't have even needed surguery! But I probably would have just gained it back lol and I know u can't just live on water either but since the pre op diet and about one week outta surguery I've lost like 24lbs!

If you have been told to have the Protein shakes its very important for you to take them,

This is my 2nd time been banded due to a leakage, Yes its hard at first, but the results are so rewarding, for so many reasons,

Your body needs Protein to get you through the healing process of the operation to keep you strong, drinking Water in not enough, you don't want to come down with a cold or something & get real sick.

It's a rough stage to get through, but you will. We all survived it. It's like childbirth...the memory of the pain eventually fades. Well, ok, not really.

What helped me get through it was NO cooking and no watching others eat or even smelling food. My son (older teen) was on his own for feeding himself, because I couldn't take seeing it or smelling it. If your family has to live on PB&J or cold Cereal for a few weeks, then let them! Right now, it's all about you and getting through post surgery safely and smartly.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
