I'm giving up!

Frustration

Expectation

Pressure

I read some interesting facts from Dr. Cahn on band2gether.net. Eventually we will get to that permanent plateau. Determined by our own metabolism, average calories consumed and burned on a daily basis. The average bandster will maintain a healthy weight at 1200 to 1800 calories a day.

I'm not giving up

Healthy eating habits (bandster rules apply)

Exercise (walking DVD)

Logging food on fitday.com (800 - 1200 calories a day)

Drinking 64 ounces of Water a day

Daily vitamins

These are all a part of the new me. Whatever results that brings I will accept as best for me.

Dr Cahn's remarks opened my eyes to the fact that there's a new normal for bandsters.

Hey gang...I haven't posted in a while either. I feel like I've been hanging out at the gym and the nutrition store for the past six months. Oh well I am feeling great. I've had two fills (August 1.6 cc. and November 1.0 cc.) Here are my six month pics taken 2 days after Christmas. I have only lost another 3-4 lbs. since then. I believe losing the last 25 -30 are going to teach me a lesson in PATIENCE!

:clap2: Wow ! You look great ! Keep up the great work !

Love and Hugs,

Lisa

Dancingqueen --you look great!!

Pinky --don't give up. Keep on trucking along. It will all work out the way it is meant to be. I'm stuck right above 200. The last time I lost weight this happened to me and it took almost 6 weeks to get below 200. I'm hoping history is not going to repeat itself.

It's so nice to see everyone checking in! Everyone seems to moving along great. I seem to be motivated more by the various reported NSV's than the weight losses these days. They are so important to my success. I can't wait to fly again just to feel the difference in the seatbelt!

My latest NSV is the fact that I took a bath for the first time in years! My doctor recommended that I soak my leg incisions in the bath tub for a few minutes and I cringed. I always showered. I never really fit in the bathtub so my body acted like a giant dam. This was especially humiliating for me. I fit last night! No damming and my legs got a good soaking. I'm going for bubble bath today!

Great to catch up on everyone's successes and frustrations. I find both of these motivating. Of course your successes make me want to try harder and your frustrations make me understand that I am not alone. This site and you guys rock!

I just returned from another trip to our favorite casino. For some reason several dealers mentioned my weight loss this trip. I guess it must be showing more in my face all of a sudden. Whatever the reason I loved it!

I have been dealing with some serious depression. Things seem a little better but I must find a way to make myself get out and mingle with people. That's part of the reason for the frequent trips to the casino. My DH is trying to make me feel better. He really doesn't understand depression and he always feels it's his fault or that he has done something. We've only been married for two years so he's still learning.

I really really need some new clothes. I may venture out to the mall today or tomorrow. I know that will make me feel better about myself. I got a new haircut at the spa while at the casino. I really would love a massage but my body is so flabby I shudder at the thought of someone strange touching it. Hopefully I'll get past that by Vegas time as I am really looking forward to the whole spa thing. I've never had a facial and I intend to treat myself while we're all there together.

I am thinking about doing the Vegas thing without hubby. Does that sound selfish? I really would love a girlfriend kinda trip. How many of you are planning on going single? I can gamble anytime and if he is there I will worry about him and setting times to meet up with him, etc. I think I am needing some serious away, unwind time. I'd appreciate everyone's thoughts on this.

Hey Barbara12, it's so good to hear from you. Sorry to hear that your feeling a bit depressed these days. I can somewhat relate. When we have no sunshine for days I get cabin fever. Glad the sun is shining bright today. I'm going to venture out here in a bit for fresh air. I think I'm getting a bit of a cold right now so not wanting to do too much.

I will be going to Vegas as a single. But I'm not married so I do not have to worry about the other half. I'm looking forward to the spa day. I can hardly wait for the trip. It will be so fun!!!

Vegas? I'm also going single. DH hears enough lapband talk without making a weekend of it.

Barbara12 and Melissa and any other Houstonian out there - Barbara4 and I are meeting for lunch on Wednesday outside Ninfa's in "The Park" shops on McKinney and Caroline (near George R Brown). ll:30 a.m. if you can make it.

Tricia - refresh my memory, you had vein surgery? How did it go? I've been sidelined from exercise and have started back slowly. Are you stir-crazy in Chi-town or enjoying some down time away from work?

Melissa - I think obsessing over the scale is hurting me building any good habits to keep the weight off once I've lost it. I'm trying to focus on good healthy habits rather than numbers.

NSV - I am now wearing my 14 jeans "for real". I didn't make the size L tops. Who am I kidding? I have shoulders like a football player.

I'm going to try and get us a suite at Bally's. PinkyLee, Barbara, and I can stay in the suite. That way we would have a place for all of us to meet. I'm going to leave DH home as well since all of you are. Maybe we could get on the same flights. I have a Continental flight at 6:10 pm on Thursday picked out. PinkyLee you could swing through town and pick me up and we could head for the airport. Let's discuss at lunch.< /p>

If we leave the guys at home we could have a spa day and a pool day the next day. This could turn out to be lots of fun. We could come and go as we pleased and not worry about the guys. I love my DH, but a "girls" weekend in Vegas a 100 lbs lighter sounds like fun. :)

Trying to get used to restriction. I was able to recover from this morning and seem to be OK now. I'm just going to take it nice and easy.

Well, it seems minor compared to a 14 (WOW), but I just got my fat butt into a size 2x. Started at a tight 3x, wearing 28/30 and some 32's. I feel skinny!!!

My hubby even made a comment. He is so cute, it started out "Uh, I want to tell you something, but I don't want to hurt you or trigger you or anything." I went, "oh, just tell me" and he goes, "you are looking thinner. Especially in those black pants." I just had to hug him!!!!

I think not stepping on the scale is helping me. I wonder about it, but figure if I step on it and have not lost as much as I think I should have it might send me off the deep end into carbland. So, I think I will just go by sizes. I have not been a loose 2x in years. :)

Congrats Poodles. We need to just take our victories and not worry about the scale. I know how good it feels to start down in sizes. I've stayed with my pre surgery clothes for a long time and then suddently it changed. It will for you too. Slow or fast as long as the weight comes off we are succeeding.

If things turn around so I can go to Vegas, I am thinking about leaving DH home. A good friend of ours is going out there this week to work. I told him that I hope to see him in June. He has interviews at 4 different properties.

Barbara12 I dont think you are being selfish at all wanting to go it alone. My DH however may get a little insecure. Not even sure it is gonna happen or not so I just wont worry about him yet. I can also relate to getting compliments. Only I am in the pit so it is the players that are making comments.

I went shopping in my friends closet tonight and squeezed my but into a size 16 pants. Havent seen that number since junior high. I still need a few more weeks before I can wear them out without worrying about busting a seem. Hopefully by then she will find the jacket to go with them.

I can also relate to depression. I have been suffering terribly since the accident. I have severe anxiety over driving in the snow. I made my hubby stop drinking tonight so he could drive home. I would never have done that before. I have always been the happy DD. I always loved driving. Last year I drove 16 hours all night by myself. This is killing me. I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow. I will talk to her about it.

Lady and Poodles - Changing sizes is so amazing. I tried on my anniversary outfit tonight and it was great not to have to worry I got too fat for it! (admittedly I was taking out all the seams in the camisole) Your NSV's mean a lot.

Lady - I hope you can make it to Vegas. I'm a former Michigander and I miss my Northern buddies. As far as the driving goes - it will thaw soon enough and you will find your sanity.

OOOH! It's looking good! We saw the sun today!

I definitely have restriction. This is a whole new world to me. I've also lost another 2 lbs. I am wearing new clothes today and feel great in them. Yes, life is definitely changing.

Pinky --I might be able to make lunch this week at Nifa's. I have an interview at 2 p.m. It will depend the location of my interview.

I also agree that I need to stop living by the scale. I think I'm at a small plateu and I will get through this.

Congrats to everyone having NSV this week.

Vegas --sounds like a girls weekend out!!! Looking forward to it. Barbara465 I don't know what time I will be able to fly out yet. But It would be cool if all the Houstonians can be on the same plane.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
