Proceed with caution on that. There have been some serious side effects to it--however it does have merit among many in the holistic community. I do not tolerate modern science meds and must lean heavily on holistic so you won't hear a nay from me.

There is a cleanse "diet" where you eat fruits and veggies for a few days. My DD tried it and it did work for her.

How about there be no "challenge"--just a post on Monday of how well we did for the week?

I could use it. Tough day today without my regular exercise. Hope to get to it tonight or it'll be another depressing day tomorrow.

maybe we should go on an exercise challenge? we did/do a Water challenge, why not an exercise challenge to get ourselves motivated. i have no clue what the parameters could or should be since everyone has their own issues, etc. but, maybe challenge ourselves to work out for 30 minutes a day for 3 or 4 times a week and then do some sort of daily posting whenever you do the exercise for 30 minutes? i don't know just a suggestion. i know my goal was 3 times last week for 30 minutes. i did 2 times last week for 30 minutes. i pulled something and wasn't able to do it the 3rd time for last week but am going to do it tonight. what does everyone think?

I did my excercise this A.M. but needed it badly because for some reason all I've done today is eat.....And I mean EAT!!!! I try to excercise every other day now and so far it's been good. I'll keep my fingers crossed though.

I'm trying the night time routine. My theory is that the increased activity in am could be increasing my appetite. Have you noticed this?

I have eaten less today, but I still haven't jumped on the machine. I'm headed for my tennies right now.

I got my "You: On A Diet" book today(Dr.OZ and Dr. Roizen) and it came with a free workout DVD. It has 3 levels:beginner, intermediate and advanced. I did the beginner workout tonight. It's funny at the beginning of the video it says "Forget the FBI warning, copy this video and give it to everyone you know!" The book has a chapter on weight loss surgeries with a page on lap-band! Anyway, I am going to try the 2 week diet. I know.....I never thought I would "diet" after paying so much for an operation, but it's more like being healthy. I am not sure what to do about being re-filled. I really don't want to experience that too tight feeling again. I may wait until the new year.

Socalgal I forgot you were totally unfilled. How's that going? Congrats on your resolve. I love your golden California hills. When's the next hike?

All you other new fill gals, I'm pulling for you.

Evening exercise was ok, but I think I'll go for an am walk and hopefully a pm eliptical. Evenings are too unpredictable. I almost missed the workout and it was defintely a short one when I finally got around to it.

Please keep us updated on the Dr. Oz book. Yesterday I watched the Oprah episode when he talked about his book and he has very interesting thoughts. I agree that our "dieting" days should be over but learning about eating healthy and taking care of our bodies should be at the forefront of all our minds.

You know what I can't believe you said that! Yes I have notice all the activity in the morning does seem to make me eat like a pig! I thought it was just my imagination. See this is why reading of others and their experiences helps so much, I'm not just using the heavy excercising for an excuse to eat. But if I don't excercise in the A.M. I won't do it at all, any suggestions?

Oh yes I stoled your dancing face, I just thought it was so cute, it makes me feel funny to watch it bounce on the screen.

I drank V8 when I was really hungry and leaned on the fact that so many of you were enduring lots of liquids and pain with new fills. If our new fill gals could, then I could do without the between meal Snacks. (I hate liquid days)

I also ate l/2 toasted sandwich and they take me forever to eat and keep me really full. The bread is very thin and I toast it twice. Hopefully it's going down - seems to, but I am very careful with this.

OK everyone. I've got so much to share. First, I went for my fill. Everything is great and I'd lost 5 lbs on their scale so I'm back where I need to be. I only got .2 because she didn't want to take me over where I had problems before. Hopefully I will get some restriction, but just enough. I had minimal reaction last night with just a little fever and chills. Not like the other times so maybe my body is getting used to it.

I am on liquids for 3 days, but my doctor has changed things up. I got lots of good handouts yesterday and I want to share some of it with all of you. Also they have come to some of the same conclusions I have so let's get started.

Top Protein drinks: Advant Edge, 100 cal, 18g protein; Dr. Atkins Advantage, 178 cal, 18g protein; Slimfast High protein, 21g protein,/Low carb 190 cal, 20g protein; Isopure @ GNC (juice like protein drink) 210 cal, 45 g protein; Gladiator @ smoothie King, 45g protein

Exercise 30 min day; build up to it

800-1000 calories per day. Liquids, junk food and sweet do not relieve hunger. Only solid food, which fills the pouch and empties slowly, will relieve hunger. Drink at least 2 qts of Water per day. For more food options go to bariatriceating.com

Take 30 minutes to eat - This is one of the things I'm discovering. I'm taking too long to eat 45-1 hour. This is allowing me to eat more than I should. Stop at the end of 30 minutes or when your portion controlled food is gone.

Eat Protein first: take a bite of meat. chew 20-35 times then swallow then wait for 2 mins in between bites for the first two bites. I think this is for those that have first bite syndrome. This should help.

1. Eat only small meals (four to six ounces = 1/2 to 3/4 cup

2. Cut food into small, dime-size bites. Eat only one bite at a time, chew throroughly and swallow carefully.

3. Stop eating as soon as you feel full.

4. Do not drink while eating

5. Eat only quality, nutritious foods. Remember, protein first

6. Avoid white, starchy foods and fibrous foods with stalks.

7. Drink plenty of fluids unless contraindicated due to medical condition.

8. Drink only low-calorie liquids.

9. Exercise at least 30 minutes a day, unless contraindicated due to a medical condition.

10. Call your surgeon or nurse practitioner if you have any problems questions, concerns, vomiting, or are unable to keep down liquids.

General guidelines. Consult with your doctor if you have questions or are struggling with any of these guidelines.

Good reminders now that we are 5 months into this.

Aren't you relieved over those 5 pounds? Thanks for sharing. I've definitely "morphed" the original instructions to suit myself.

Do we have to drink liquids only in a.m.? I've dropped my Protein Shake and eat a hi Protein Cereal instead. It was a move to conserve calories.

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
