Pinkylee 7 Posted September 18, 2007 Glad to hear you gals had such fun in SF. Regarding anxiety - according to Dr. Oz on the Oprah show yesterday, eating Omega 3 rich fish (salmon, tuna and other high fat fish) is a big help. He's been doing studies on food myths. 3 London cabbies tried the fish 4 times a week and greatly reduced their stress/anxiety levels. Flax seed is also rich in Omega 3. Suppliments don't do the trick like the real thing though. I have to say that my Vitamin chews at night sometimes save me from a snack attack. I eat a multi and a Calcium. Not calorie free, but they do the trick. I don't know if the house closing has finally set in, but I had a really nice day. The first in quite some time (depression free). It could be that I've returned to my walking dvd's. Something about a prolonged walk (even inside) must be helpful. Congrats to Cathy and Leece on your recent loss. Your success is inspiring! cathgr8 1 Posted September 18, 2007 Thanks for that tip Pinky, I don't know if I can get fish in four times a week, but I'll try to add some, anyway. I take the supplement because my skin and nails are so dry. I'll boost that too, it couldn't hurt. And Trader Joe's has some crackers and chips with flax seed, though I don't know how much Omega 3 is in those and I probably should take it easy on the carbs. Glad your stress has gone down! Pinkylee 7 Posted September 18, 2007 Dr. Oz will have a special aired on PBS on the role food plays in our health. The show was really great - and with the exception of 4 times a week fish (eww - I like fish, but 4 x a wk?) it was mostly about a healthy south beach type of diet promoting everything from weight loss to longevity. Tomatoes was another biggy in anti-oxident factors. He had some gal eating tomatoe paste every day. Yikes!!! Tonight is the Biggest Loser and it's almost time for me to "zone in". By the end of the season, I feel like I know the contestants personally.
socalgal3 4 Posted September 19, 2007 Miramar Reservoir | Water Department This is where I walked 5 miles tonight. I almost flaked out on my friend due to Aunt Flo, but I decided to stick it out and I'm glad I did! It was a nice walk and we saw a bunch of cute cops jogging the path! I'll be watching Biggest Loser tonight too! "AT GOAL IN 2008!!"
Pinkylee 7 Posted September 19, 2007 Were those Bodybuggs the contestants had on their arms? WTG Socalgal - keep fishin'.
CindyCam 1 Posted September 19, 2007 Pinkylee.....Yep..thats what they were....I think i may order mine today. I have read so much positive things about them....there is actually a thread on lapbantalk.com about bodybugg http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f81/bodybugg-users-report-here-36232/ I have definitely read more positive than negative. I just gotta push myself to spend that $400 bucks.....hopefully in a month after i receive it I can tell you all that it was the best money I have ever spent. warmmorningsun 1 Posted September 19, 2007 Cindy, do you know whether you receive the watch when you purchase it too? Or if you have to purchase separately? I've been looking at pricing too, and can't find where the watch is an option to buy (or add on)?
socalgal3 4 Posted September 19, 2007 I should have stopped walking and gone fishing, considering I should be eating fish 4 times a week. I totally thought of you Pinky and Cindy when I saw those bodybuggs on the biggest loser people! What great advertising for them! Work hard today people! warmmorningsun 1 Posted September 19, 2007 I did it! Bit the Bugg! There's a bodybugg and digital display for $400 on ebay and I just bought it; there's one more like that, and another without the boddybugg for $350. No excuse any more!
CindyCam 1 Posted September 19, 2007 WTG WarmMorningSun...I am sooooo jealous. I cant wait to see how you like it.
warmmorningsun 1 Posted September 19, 2007 I almost choked paying that amount of money; but I thought a) I spent a LOT more on the band It was (kind of) a deal with the watch/digital display c) I'm impulsive and I've done worse I'll let you know!
CindyCam 1 Posted September 20, 2007 So what does the watch do? I checked on ebay and saw exactly what you were talking about....that is a really good deal....the only thing you will have to do is pay for the program on the web...which i dont think is expensive...i think like 8 to 10 bucks a month at the most. I dont think the people on the biggest loser wear the watch/display. Does the watch tell you ur calories burned or what? I may order mine tonight if i get a response back from you...i am trying to make up my mind on which one to get.
warmmorningsun 1 Posted September 20, 2007 Hey, sorry for the delay in responding. My understanding is that the watch gives you realtime information, vs. the bug alone which give you info after the fact. so if you dont plug info in until later in the day ou don't get info until then. i'm thinking if i know what calories i've burned as i go, maybe ill have time during the day to up the calories burned, etc. li'm sorry for the typo's my keyboard is on the fritz and i need to get another tomorrow. CindyCam 1 Posted September 20, 2007 Dear Cindy, Thank you for purchasing a bodybugg™ To You program on myapex.com. I did it....I did it...I bought the bug!! I am soooo excited!!
Pinkylee 7 Posted September 20, 2007 I can't wait to hear how well your Buggs work. I wonder if it's possible to get one with medical reimbursement money? I'm gonna check! I've had 2 fairly good days in a row, but I can do better. Cathgr8 - I'm going to plan for some healthy Snacks today. (raw veggies - I have 3 I can usually eat, tomatoes, radishes and seedless cucumbers and single serve fruit - I can't seem to eat fresh fruit unless it's really ripe) and of course my old standby that I completely quit using - a v8! Yesterday it was dry Cereal and of course I had at least 200 calories in cereal before I knew it!
