June 2006 Band Crew

Barbara,

Thanks for the great advice. Maybe we are getting to a stage that can be difficult if we don't watch out. I know that all of a sudden I took a turn from doing this right to getting a little obsessed. Thanks for reminding me to not let it take over!

Just when the rugs finally were finally getting dry enough for them to be pulled up the new lenolium to be ordered( not sure itf it spelled right but its flooring!)

MY MOTHER -IN LAW FELL AND BROKE HER PELIVIS!

She and my father-in law were shopping in Targer and she just tripped --NOT ON ANYTHING -NO LAW SUIT!-She said she had on rubber sole shoes. She is also 81 years old but in good health! She told us she just she just tripped over her own feet.

No organ wer damaged, just a clean break and she need rehabit , but she is in alot of pain!

They are now full time residents of Hilton Head South Carolina after having a part-time house there for 20 years.

Right now no surgery is needed, thank god. Its so hard to get decent airfare to fly down --we keep telling them why did you not go somewhere we can get to !

I've been having a heck of a time logging on to the site, so I haven't been posting. DQ-Have you tried liquid vitamins or chewables? I take liquid Health multi everyday plus their Calcium. It tastes good! I've been on liquids so much, I need to get my nutrients in! I totally understand if you wanted a complete unfill, but see what your doc says, maybe just take 1/2 your saline out. I wanted my doc to leave some in this time, but no go. I'm super hungry and frustrated cuz I can't really exercise til my bruising goes away. No news from the insurance, so I'm getting impatient about that too.

Sorry about your MIL Leece!

I started taking some of my kids Flintstones this a.m. I think that I have gotten looser. My DH took me out to Waffle House this morning. I got an egg and two peices of bacon down! It felt like a feast!!!

Dancing - So glad you are getting back to normal.

I am finally without fever and body aches. Still not too thrilled with solid food but I'm managing. (Queso, bday cake and wine - pretty nice mushies for DH's bday) I don't dare claim that new low I saw on Saturday morning.

Barbara4 - Ditto. I am no longer in a fight with the scales. Hitting goal weight is still important to me, but it will consume me no longer.

Lisa - sorry about MIL. Major cleanups are draining enough.

Socalgal3 - thanks for reminder on supplements. You've weathered a lot of trauma and pulled through. Your Vitamin regimine probably helped in many of these. I haven't been as careful as I should - may be why I caught this last bug.

Hi all!

Well My MIL is still in alot pain but no major organs damaged as I mentioned yesterday.

I had alot of fun yesterday picking out new linoleum for my apartment- it looks like wood so it gives the look of wooden floors. It should be installed sometime this week ! What a difference a weekend makes, here in New York this weekend its low 70's and beautiful, compared to the Nor-eater that destroyed my basement apartment carpets and some furniture last week.

On the negative side my psychiatrist has changed my Bipolar medication once again ;) ! The Depakote was not working that well so now he has me on Tegretol and I have to go back to him in two weeks to see if he wants to keep me on this new medication.

I hate when my medication gets changed since these medications have side effects and weight gain is one of them. Its been so hard to say on track lately I go up and down. I have gone as far up as 240 and back down to 225 in one month. Righ now Iam at 235 but Iam not changing the ticker until I go see the Nurse NP.

My cravings when on these medications have been Sweets!

Iam trying not go over board, but its so dam hard:think !

I have to for my next appointment on April 25th but, Iam not looking foward to it since I have been really terrible with my eating over the past month!

It been because of the continued medication changes and my depression. I was a Complusive Overeater before I had the surgery and Emotional eater.

I turn to food for comfort, being in a depressed state from my Bipolar this month with the medication, I have been turning to my old food choices.:think

Its so hard for me having Bipolar1 and having my band, but Iam trying the best I can to work through it all.

Thanks to this board and my friends here, I know I can post my feelings and know Iam not alone !

Lisa

Lisa, you sure aren't alone. I may not be Bipolar but I sure am an emotional eater. I'm convinced that depression requires carbohydrates. And of course the more carbs you eat the more you want and the more depressed you get. Talk about a vicious cycle.

Hopefully the nice weather will help everyone get out and get active. I haven't really done anything active this weekend but just sitting out in the sun is wonderful.

Hang in there Lisa. Hopefully you'll get your meds balanced out soon.

I hate what they have done to the site. How are you all finding the "June 2006 Band Crew"? It takes me FOREVER. Help!! I am convinced that I am missing something, because it is so hard to find!!

Lisa,So sorry to hear about your mother in laws fall and your medication woes. I do hope they get your meds straightened out soon. I have a dear friend that is bi-polar so I know what you are going through. Like Barbara said, Please hang in there! Hopefully, you will feel better in no time! At least you have the remodeling to keep you occupied!

Back to work tomorrow. My DH was out of town all weekend. It was nice and quiet around here. I got caught up on some housework and tv! It sure is nice to have some "me" time every now and again!

Have a great week, everyone!

Momma- I just hit SEARCH and then type in June. We are usually on the 1st or second page. Anyone who knows a better way, just let me know! Today I wore a pair of Size 14 Dockers to work! I haven't worn these pants since 2000, so I was happy. I need to be good since I'm still kinda too sore to exercise and I have no fill. I'm not obsessing over the scale either. I figure, I would love to reach goal by my 1 year anniversary, but I'm in such a better place, I truly will be ok if I don't lose more. I chose this surgery because it would be slower and more natural, so I need to remember that. Have a good week everyone.

If you have subscribed to this thread you can find it under "quick links"/"subscribed threads".

I saw a number on the scale this morning that I've not seen before. It was exciting but I'm going to give a day or so before I claim it. I also had my first serious pb this morning (since my last fill). I "yucked" and it was over pretty quickly. I'm trying to be so careful as I know I am filled beyond where I was when things were really bad.

Easy does it!

Good Ideas! Thanks for the suggesstions! I always forget about "My Favorites".

Way to go on the new number, Barbara! I'm contemplating on weather or not I should go get an unfill. I am PB'ing daily, to the point that I can eat nothing before 4 or 5pm. I know this is not healthy. I think I am just scared that if I get an unfill, I will be able to eat and I will not loose, although I know that is not true and that I will probabley actually loose more if I am eating healthy, rather than not eating and existing on Peanut Butter and milk every night. The scales are not moving fast, but they are moving some, so that is SOMETHING....It is just such a mind game. Always has been and I guess that it always will be. Some things just never do change!

I would just like to say again that i am so happy that I have found this site and my new friends that I can talk to. It makes this process so much easier. I just wish that I would have come here sooner!

Good Night.

Misty

Hi Junebies - I have to rant or vent or whatever it's called. I'll preface it by saying I'm usually Ms. Sunshine - find the silver lining, etc. I"m just bummed this week.

My wedding is in one month - 5/25 - and I'm stressed. For one thing, my priest copped out on us last minute. Long story, but he has "memory issues" and "forgot" that he had a previous engagement the same evening. If you're Catholic, you know wedding prep takes some time, and it took even longer because my fiance and I both had to get annulments and do "extra" because I have a little girl - more counseling, etc. So because he told me late, and because the wedding is on Memorial Day weekend, there was only one other person in the entire diocese who could do the wedding - and he wanted us to redo counseling with him. AGH! I refuse. I called the bishop and got no support. So I made the decision to move the wedding to the site of the rehearsal. This has taken so much joy out of this for me. But we moved on and made plans and we're moving forward.

Then I had a base line mammogram (Im 36) and they found what is a Category 3(?) spot - so I have to see a breast specialist next week. I'm scared. I'm trying not to let this get to me, but it scares me really.

I"m scheduled for bridal portraits tomorrow and I absolutely have no desire to do them. I don't know why other than to say I'm just done with the wedding prep stuff, etc. I'm not sleeping well, my scales have stalled big time, I'm eating chocolate, and I just feel ****ty! I have to reemphasize, I am usually the perpetually happy glass half full girl. I'm just bummed right now. I really needed to vent and I'm sorry but you all got hit with it. I should count my blessings, and I try to. I just don't get bummed like this - it's rare. And I can't quite get myself out of the slump.

Aimee,

Google that finding on your mammogram. It looks like they'll probably just recommend a repeat mammo in 6 months, probably benign. That means you'll have to work hard to put it out of your mind for now and get back on track. It sucks that you had to change your wedding plans, but it's all done now. Go make some wonderful portraits, and don't forget to look at them next to a before picture. You've come a long way. Enjoy this month.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
