SunnyDee 0 Posted June 23, 2006 Banded two days ago, and I have to admit it was a lot less scarey than I thought it would be. Dr. Hung's staff here in Lincoln Neb are just a dream team. Have some residual gas pain, but have been using Gas X Strips and they've helped a great deal. Incisions sting now and then, but I haven't had to rely upon the pain meds too much. Still very bloated tho, so glad I don't have to interact with the public this week lol I'm glad to be on this side of the band now, and although I don't have *restriction* I find myself not very hungry....some creamy Soup and a Jello make a fine meal for now. Best wishes to all the future JuneBee's and to all that were banded this past month.
BeacheeGirl 0 Posted June 23, 2006 My thoughts and prayers are with all those banded today. When you feel up to it, please post your experiences :- ) Also, what happened to everyone's Before Pictures????
socalgal3 4 Posted June 23, 2006 I was supposed to start my liquid diet today for 1 week pre-op. I ended up going out eating and drinking with some colleagues because we all got laid off today!:faint: I'll try again tomorrow. Thanks for all the reports from Mexico, that's where I'll be next week, so all the details help. I just need to practice my non-food coping mechanisms...they are quite rusty! Say a prayer 4 me. SALEMKITTY 0 Posted June 23, 2006 Congratulations to the new bandsters. Good luck to the future bandsters. Hang in there. It gets a lot better.
Dancing Queen 0 Posted June 23, 2006 I almost feel like I am doing something wrong. I don't have to start my liquid diet until 24hrs. before surgery. I am 4 days away and started replacing one meal with a Protein Shake about a week ago. I figure it can't hurt to go ahead and get started on high Protein. My hubby and I fly to Monterrey on Sunday, pre-op appts. are on Mondaty and then Tuesday is the big day. I am not sure how I am feeling. More nervous about going out of the country for the first time than of the surgery. Anyone have any problems at the airport in Monterrey? I have my i.d. and birth certificate. There wasn't time to get a passport. Dr. Rumbaut 6-27-06 256/243/
hulia goolia 0 Posted June 23, 2006 Janelle- I'm so thankful for your post!!! I really needed that and will refer to it often. I had my brother pass away unexpectedly last month, came home to have a few weeks before going to a huge girls camp that I was partly in charge of and went straight from girls camp to Mexico to be banded. When I got home and I was on liquids Yikes!! NO comfort food. I fell apart. My very best friend is moving out of the State. Found out today. Anyways, I've been very discouraged. I needed that. I am so happy that I've done this for myself though. I am only 35 and have lost both parents and now a sibling to Heart Disease. I need to be here for my family. I won't be a downer from now on, but, that's how I felt today. Julia June 2, 2006 Dr. Ortiz 233 Starting 220 now
Randi L 0 Posted June 23, 2006 I guess I just haven't figured out the threads thing - but, I'm banded!
barbara465 2 Posted June 23, 2006 Congrats Randi. Hope you are doing well. I am 11 days out and feeling great. Liquids is really getting boring, but get to go on mushies on Monday. I didn't have but 24 hours on liquid diet prior to surgery so I can't complain too much. Hang in there everyone. We are well on our way to health. Hope all the new bandsters are doing good and those getting ready stay calm. It really isn't a scary ordeal.
bubbyville 0 Posted June 23, 2006 Finally was able to go down stairs to chat - I got banded on June 20th. The surgery went great - BUT the after was terrible. I had dry heaves for over 24 hours. They almost kept me there a third day. My reaction to the anethetics was bad all I wanted to do was keep my eyes closed and sleep BUT those pesky nurses kept coming in and wanting viatles. Only had pain meds the 1st 16 hours so that isn't too bad -but I am sore. Still dry heaving a little. that hurts the worst. Trying to sleep in bed....weird weird dreams - spend half the night in bed/half in the recliner - have the stiffest neck today. Had about 5 good hours of sleep - want a couple more today BUT afraid if I sleep during the day....I won't sleep well agian tonight. THe only good thing I got going is that the band is in place and all is well. The dry heaves have not made it slip - my biggest concern. My goal for today is to eat/drink a little more than yesterday - which wasn't even enough to feed a baby. Each day I do feel better - can't wait to get me back again so the band and I can start working together in my weight loss. Take care everyone that has been banded and good luck to those coming up - Tracy
chako_lady 0 Posted June 23, 2006 Good morning! I made it. I had ro sit in the lobby for 3 hours past everyon else and that as a bit nerve racking, but I was 4th inot surgery. If I can recall correctly I was in the OR at 3:23 and started waking up from the anethsesia about 4:28. I was up walking about an hour later. Only 1 trip around or I get dizzy. I slept well, not in much pain. The nurse already disconnected my IV this moning. I have been drinking Water and capri Suns and have had a few popsicles. Hopong the sugar will help with the dizziness. Everyonce in a while I feel yhr gas in my stomach, have burped a bit of it out. I am ablr to drink water with no problem! Yeah!! To anyone coming to Mexico for DR. Ortiz~ His clinic is wonderful! I highly reccomend Him and his staff. It is very clean and comfortable. I am going to try and take a few pictures today and will post them, I will post a before pic when I get home~ Thanks again for all yoir thoughts and prayers, They have heloed! barbara465 2 Posted June 23, 2006 Janelle, Glad to hear from you. I was getting worried. Sounds like for the most part its going as expected. Try to move around as that's the secret to getting rid of that gas. Hope you continue to do well.

lucymann 0 Posted June 23, 2006 Hi I was banded on 6/20/06. Surgery and the hospital stay were a breeze. I had very little pain - up and walking and getting in my 50 1-oz cups of liquid with no problem. The next morning I was low on phosphorus so had to spend an extra 4 hours getting it by IV. I was finally released at noon. I walked out of the hospital and down to the parking lot and climbed into a Ford F150 truck for the trip to my office - no problems and no pain! I worked for three hours and then home to play with my miniature dachshund and then to nap. The next morning I was up, showered and dressed and at work by 6:30 a.m. I am telling you all this because I want you to know what NOT to do! THAT' s when I fell apart. I got sick and suffered from nausea all day. It was very hard for me to get down any liquid - only about 20 ozs the whole day. Today I am acting much more sensibly - I stayed home and have made it my mission in life to simply drink my Water and diluted apple juice. I hope today goes better for me! Congratulations to all of you June bandsters! I look forward to coming here for support and encouragement. Lucy
