June 2006 Band Crew

We went on the Dawn Princess out of Seattle for 7 days. We just did the Inside passage, no extra land tours. I only wanted to be gone a week and wanted it to be easy. There are lots of cruises of the passage with additional land tours to Denali, etc. Well worth it. It was wonderful.

Hi everyone, it is me again...Got picked up at the border...they messed up and we had to wait about an hour...no biggie. Got to Dr. Ortiz's clinic and they literally whisked me off to a room where I had to put "booties" on before I could enter. A lady drew my blood...she was GOOD! didn't even feel the needle. Then I went right to another room where I had to breathe into a machine, from there I went into another little room where I had to take my shirt and bra off and put a paper gown on. The same guy hooked me up to a bunch of wires to check my heart. From there I was met by the nutritionist who went over my post surgery meals. When I get home I will post there meal plan.< /p>

The Hotel Lucerna is very nice. I'm up on the 5th floor, with a little balcony. It is very noisey outside as these people here don't know how to drive...lol. So they are always honking their horns...

I will be picked up in the morning at 8 am along with several others I am sure. I am so excited to finally join the rest of you who have been banded!!!

Well I'm 2 days post op and I'm feeling better as the hours go by. I was absolutely miserable for the last two days and still feel like I have loads of Water in my belly. It just feels sooo heavy. My mother took me out walking, house hunting actually. It got kind of crazy at the end. I reached my limit and just got too tired to deal with the pain, talk and walk at the same time. I'm on full liquids so while I was out, I picked up some broccoli and cheese Soup to see if I can tolerate it. I just love the thickness of it...so much better than broth.< /p>

Well I got checked into the Lucerna around 1:30, and boy this is better than the hotel I stayed in when I spent New Years here 20 years ago!

You might have gotten a better room... in the tower. I got a ground floor room across the pool from the main building.

If you get this message tonight, give me a holler in Room 715... but not too late because if I'm up, I drink (water of course) and I really don't want to drink after 10 tonight...so I'm planning to be in bed by then:D

If you on't get this message then I'll meet you in the lobby by 8am...don't be late!

Your friend in the battle for weight loss!

Darrin

Barbara, thanks for the pic! It's sooo nice to have a face to match with the pic. You and your husband look really happy. I hope to travel again once I lose weight. We are planning an anniversary trip right now in November to Kauai...

Housecatgirl, you are gorgeous - before & after!

Wow! Today is the day! Slept well, considering the bed here is much harder than I'm used to. Not to nervous other than the few thoughts that go through my head "what am I doing?" LOL I am glad I have made this decision. I do hope they take me first! :) Hqpe you don't all miss me too much, he he, but I'll be back here sometime Friday when they release me!

Thanks again for all your prayers and support...but don't stop now!!!

I'M GOING TO BE BANDED TODAY!!! :clap2:

Went to the doctor yesterday. Well, maybe I should say I went to the office. Never saw the doctor only the nurse for 4 minutes. I traveled 90 minutes in Houston rush hour to get there for nothing. Just looked at my scars and said they looked good. She didn't even take off the steri strips. Said I could do that in a few days when I felt like it. Did lose 9lbs since surgery so that was nice. They gave me the number to call to make my fill appt. Now that makes me a little nervous. I am to get a fill at 4 weeks. Guess that's good because I won't have a chance to see how much I could eat without restriction!

Anyway, continue to feel good. Still some tightness or muscle catch in one area and a little shoulder pain. Nothing else. Life is good.

Thanks Barbara! And Beacheegirl don't be scared! You will be amazed how well they take care of you here in Mexico. You won't want to go back to a Dr in the US again. They are so caring and so nice. Plus with all the prayers going out for you from this site alone should set you at ease!

I'm almost there. Leaving right now so I can walk around the hotel a bit to shake any of the little nerves out...Keep those prayers going! I need lots of Angels in that surgery room with me!:) :amen:

Banded June 20th.

Never got nervous, felt like it was the "calm before the storm"

Hasn't rained a drop yet.

I just walked my dog a little.

Drinking everything.

Going to rest, shower, and drink my Protein,

drink my Water, and be an appreciative girl.

Good luck to all the other June Banders,

Pre and Post op.....

Hello to everyone!

Had my surgery on Tuesday. DH and I drove about 250 miles on Monday to DFW area. Surgery went great. NO problems. Had some gas pains in my back, but they are all but gone today. Hubby drove me home on Wednesday - glad I had a pillow to pad my tummy from the seatbelt. Feeling pretty good today, just a little sore, almost no bruising. NOt taking the codein pain meds today, just some Adult liquid Tylenol. Best thing I took with me was my heating pad. Great for my aching back!

I am sooooooo glad I did this.

Terry :biggrin1:

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
