Fell of the wagon - extremely dissapointed

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone. So today I caved and ate fast food after holding out for so long. Before my head caught up with my stomach I looked down and my two tacos were already gone! I feel so disappointed with myself and I know that this is an extra 5+ hours in the gym just to get rid of it. I haven't hated myself this much in a long time. I've been so good losing 3+ pounds a week! I know I can work it off but seeing what I just did scared me. I felt I haven't seen this part of myself since before my surgery. My confidence is shattered right now.

I'm not going to beat you up, you're already doing a pretty good job of that. What I'm wondering though is how you could eat two tacos and not have any issues with the band. I'm thinking you may need a fill. Otherwise this is just a diet...and you are struggling to maintain it.

Hey sweetie. Eating two tacos is not reason enough to beat yourself up. I could see it if it were three or four but two????? You're good. I would just suggest eating the inside rather than eating the shell. I actually had a taco salad myself for dinner from taco bell. :)

I got the surgery 2 1/2 months ago and went on vacation for a month so I've only had 1 fill and am getting another one in a month. I hope with more fills I won't eat that much again. But I'm fighting those cravings everyday and my stomach got the better of me.

Thanks lady VS. I know it's a hurdle but it just scares me that I "blacked out" and ate food. That's what I used to do before surgery. Such a scary feeling :(

I allow myself one fast food meal a week so that I stay motivated and usually it's.....two tacos from taco bell! They are only about 150 cals each, I log them in, and have still been losing consistently. This is a new lifestyle of not eating as MUCH....not of feeling disappointed if you crave Mexican. Don't be too hard on yourself!! Life is too short to never eat a taco!!

You say you haven't seen this side of you since banding. Perhaps this is the time the new you learns to forgive and learns to get back up on the wagon. It's hard, but can be done. You aren't perfect, nor am I, nor is anyone. Just try to do better at your next meal. No 5 hrs in the gym. No punishment. Just strive to do better next time.

Hollev, I'm just a little curious... Before the band, would you have stopped at two tacos, even? I know wouldn't have! Chalk it up to a done deal, and move on to tomorrow. The tacos won't derail you, although the salt content may raise Water weight on the scale for a day or two.

I totally understand the "out of control feeling," and really think that's one of the best things the band has done for me -- even when I have a slip, it's never that big of a slip, and I can get back on the wagon .. Just like you will!

How is eating two tacos going to make you have to spend 5 hours working out? You would have to consume 3500 calories of fast food to gain a pound and I doubt two tacos had that many calories in it. You cant beat yourself up just move on. Its not like you fell off completely for months its one meal.

no need to deprive when you have a lapband. eat something if you want it..you are not on a diet......but be mindful of the calories (if you follow that)......food is not bad....its the type and the amount that is the issue...like the one poster said, i eat one meal a week of whatever i want.....i have done that since banding....one meal (my allotted amount)....i do not say i cant have this or that...i just now make better choices....and so you ate two taco's.....so what.....its in your tummy now and due to come out.....move past it...and eat better the next meal. (one meal wont make you gain a zillion pounds and just like one meal wont make you lose a zillion pounds)....its an ongoing process..

Depriving yourself of things you love could/will just lead to failure in the long run. Band is not a diet and it is not about deprivation. Moderation is the key. Don't beat yourself up too much. Carry on and move forward and you'll be fine :)

Thank you everyone. When I made this post I was feeling horrible about myself so you were seeing me at my low. I understand now that everyone slips and as long as I don't go crazy I'll allow myself that taco once or twice a month. To clarify it wasn't just a taco. They were those cheesy gordita crunches from Taco Bell. So full of bad things but I feel if I'm craving the junk I'll just get a regular taco without the extra stuff or something. Thank you so much for your advice!

Don't worry about it anymore...like everyone has said this is not a diet but a life style change. I usually eat out once a week and order whatever I want :) what I have realize is that I can no longer eat huge portions like I did before.

It's okay- when I am back on solids I don't plan on depriving myself all the time, ill make better choices most of the time but occasionally I will visit my faves (within portion, of course). If I lose slower that's okay because it's MY choice and I am not in a race~ just keep that same attitude in mind....there are some things I can easily give up forever. There are a few things though, if I told myself I would "never" have again, would make this journey miserable and impossible... Allow yourself some wiggle room- we deserve that now and then for all the other times we have are behaved! ;)

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
