Hi. I am 14 days post op now. I'm concerned that the two 'incision' sites, central abdomen, below sternum, are like a small lump, just larger than pea size. The other 3 incision points are flat. I can feel my port under one wound. The wounds are closed nicely. What are the lumps? Is it tissue that I will have permanently? Should I try massage it down? I convinced my husband the wounds would heal and not be noticeable. Now I'm a bit concerned.

I definitely wouldn't massage or do anything to them until you check with your doctor.

If they aren't red, warm, and/or sore then I'd mention it at your next appointment. If they are red, warm, and/or sore I'd call your surgeon's office for advice now.

Can I ask what was used to close the incisions?

I had glue and I did have a lump under one of mine. I had it checked and it was just the glue so was nothing to worry about. It's gone now but if you are worried then ring your clinic nurse or surgeon. They are there to help you and guide you and will probably have seen all kinds like this before x

Thanks very much ladies. I was glued. It doesn't feel warm or swollen and seems healed. I'll give it another week then will contact the clinic. Thanks again.

I believe I had dissolvable stitches under my glue. I could feels things too for awhile, even had one poking out, but they are gone now.

Hello friends, the lumps are a lot less. I've been gently massaging them and it seems to help. It's also making them less sensitive to touch. All good. This forum is sooooooo important as here in the UK you don't see the surgeon for a follow up. You have a telephone number to call if you have concerns and I have dietician consultations over the phone but don't see anyone medical until first fill date on 15-10-13 (slightly late due to me being on holiday). Keep up the chat and thanks everyone :-)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
