I had lap band done on Friday. I have pain where the large scar is also. The chest and shoulder pain had gotten better today. I have to embrace the pain over the largest wound site to move around. I am always hungry though. Went through 2 boxes of Popsicles already and 2 packs of Jello. What should I do? Must be mental

Hi All! I had surgery last Thursday (9/12). Most of the gas pain and shoulder pain is gone. I do feel pain under the larger incision where the port is. It does not bother me very much when standing but it is making it uncomfortable to sit at a desk. I hope this will pass soon.

Today was my first day back at work. I am tired! I am sure I will be better later this week.

I haven't been hungry at all. I am just not interested in food. I am on Clear Liquids now and will move to thicker liquids on Thursday.

I would love to hear how everyone else is doing!

I didn't come home on a clear liquid. I can have milk, juice, coffee, oatmeal, cream of wheat, Jello, pudding, yogurt, Protein drinks.....etc

So far I've had Water, my Protein shakes and some Jello. I'm getting really full fast! My port site is bothering me and the gas pain comes and goes.

Had my surgery last Thursday, sept 12. Was very nauseous the day after and tons of gas pain. But now I'm walking, sleeping on my side or stomach just fine. Still a little sore where the port is. All in all, this hasn't been too bad. I'm able to sip more than the one ounce per five minutes that my dr recommended. Looking forward to "mushies" this Thursday! ???€

I had my surgery Friday 09/13/13. This is first day back at work and it has been difficult being I'm a nurse. It hurts to walk for long periods of time. It hurts just where the port is.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
