Hi!!!

My name is Holly and I am being banded on May 26th by Dr Sanchez in Monterray, MX. I am a self pay. I currently weigh 280 and I would like to have a goal of 180. Im single with no kids and will be going it alone. Im so scared, but I know what I'm doing is life changing and life saving. I see my parents that are obese with diabetes...and I just dont want to end up like them. Anyway...and help would be welcomed with open arms!!!

Thanks!

Holly

I've lost a total of 40 lbs and feel like a different person already! I wish you much success with your journey!! If I can help answer any questions, just give me a yell! Take care and Good Luck !

When I get to have surgery I am not telling them at work anything except that I am on vacation for a week. My husband, my daughter, (who has a family and home of her own) and a very close friend are the only people, except my lap band friends, who know I am wanting surgery. If nobody knows I have had weight loss surgery then there are no questions. My husband will take care of the household while I am recooperating...I hope!! How about yourself?

Hi GreatDame,

Welcome to LBT and congratulations on your upcoming surgery/life change! If you need anything, please don't hesitate to ask here or PM me if you like. I don't know how much research you did but if you have any general or specific questions, LBT and most of it's members are a great source of information. Of course, you should always follow your doctors instructions over us! but it's always nice to see the range of information out there. Good luck on your weight loss journey!

Welcome to bandland and the forum. I wish you the best of luck. I started at 297 and I'm down to 194 in less than a year. :)

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
