Discouraged but trying

Recommended Posts

At the end of the day, band or no band, it's all diet and exercise. I use myfitnesspal.com religiously, and try to get most of my calories from healthy foods and Protein. I check the site often to stay motivated, blog, and attend my monthly support groups. I also completely cut out fast food and any type of pop (as recommended) which has been HUGE for me. Hang in there, you are doing great =)

My doctor has said at every visit that I'm doing fine and my weight loss is perfectly normal & if only I was a fly on the wall I'd hear everyone else saying the same thing, which is " I want to loss weight quicker"!!! So our weight loss is very normal and although some may loose weight quick at the start it does slow down and for others it's a constant slow pace! We will all reach our goals in good time!!! ;-D

I was banded in April and I'm down 27 lbs as of 2 weeks ago I'm not sure about now but I'm just curious do y'all think I'm on track because I see people losing 30-50 lbs or more in the time I've had my band and some were banded after me. I know I'm not suppose to compare but I'm scared I'm behind or something. Can anyone give suggestions on how to increase my weight loss progress?

if you are losing *inches*, you are losing weight....the scale goes up and down all day long.....that being said, it doesnt matter how long it takes you to lose weight to get to where you want to be (as long as you get there).....you will lose at your pace (and the correct/healthy way) and in the long run, this process will make you healthier.....that is what WLS is about.....not how fast one loses.....sure some larger BMI people lose faster and sure some who are super duper tight and cant drink/eat lose fast but what matters is you listening and following your doctors instructions, eating healthy, exercising and staying focused on the goal.....your health. you got this.......keep going

It took me 2 1/2 years to lose 84 lbs and I have read where it only took several people just a few months to lose the same amount and more. Yes, we are all truly different. Keep up the good work.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
