How much/how fast can you drink?

Recommended Posts

I've not been banded yet, but I am wondering how much/how fast can you drink Water post banding? I don't mean like immediately after, I get that you have to go slow at first. But let's say a month or two after when things calm down a little. When I exercise, I need a lot of Water. My mouth gets really dry and I chug.

So how much water can you drink over how much time span?

I had the same issue about chugging Water and I cannot do it anymore. Immediately post op they have you drink an ounce every 15 min. I cannot get in 64 oz a day. Then with all the restriction of not drinking for 30-60 min after eating it is tough. I am about 6 weeks out and I can take a drink normally however I cannot chug. I 'oh .ldb encourage you to sip constantly when not eating and immediately after. Start when you get up and keep at it all day. Let me if you need a buddy or if I can help answer any other questions! Good luck.

I am 4 years out and can drink normally. I do not encourage chugging, especially at full restriction (green zone). For some of us the Water catches in the pouch and slowly funnels through the stoma. Your pouch can hold up to 1 cup. Chugging can lead to overfilling/stretching. You can definitely get your water intake in, but no chugging. My recommendation is to use a sports bottle with a sip top to prevent chugging if it's 2nd nature to you :)

I was banded 18 months ago and cannot "chug" Water...even with a completely unfilled band.

I keep a bottle of Water with me at all times, and sip from it frequently. I am able to get the proper amount of water, but it takes a conscious effort to do so.

Opps. Hit send to quick. I can drink Pretty normal, but not chug. I can take a gulp...one. But I don't often. I take frequent large sips. Im 5 months ok. You will be ok.

I cannot chug but can get down some big gulps of Water and will even find myself holding some in my mouth and then swallowing. But honestly I couldn't chug before. I think you'll be fine. It may just take you a bit longer after exercising to drink water.

I've had Water come right back up on me, even if I have not eaten for 12 hours....especially when I'm running and forget.....

That is also why I cannot drink while eating for it too will over fill my pouch and come back up.....it is a good trick when one gets stuck though.

I'm almost 2 months post op, not yet in the "green zone" and can drink quite normally. I can take several big drinks at a time without noticing anything out of the ordinary.

I can drink pretty much normally until I reach the green zone, and then I have to slow down.. that's one thing that lets me know I'm in the green. I take a drink, wait for it to pass through the band and then take another drink. I love Water and it's hard to slow down when I'm really thirsty, but my body lets me know it can't handle the chugs!

That is def one thing I miss! Chugging a water bottle :( it hurts way to much but then again it depends how restricted you are.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
