Can anyone have bread?

Recommended Posts

Everyone is different, but I can have sandwiches, burgers, rolls, etc. Now, if the bread is TOO big, like a restaurant burger, I won't eat the top bun just the bottom. It's not that it'll get stuck it's just that I'll get full too fast and not enough Protein.

It's trial and error, really. You'll have to figure out what works for you after you're on regular food again.

Same for me!! I decide if the calories are worth the meal and sometimes it's yes and sometimes it's no. I eat crackers, potato chips, popcorn, bread, pizza crust, Buns, etc. A MUCH lower amount and frequency than I used to but they go down just fine =)

Before my last fill (2 months ago) I could do bread in small toasted portions. Now I can't at all and like some have said, I actually needed that so I would focus on filling up on Protein and veggies. I've lost the most in one month by cutting out bread too. I can do crackers but I try not to because they kill my appetite for eating. So they are mainly used by me to thicken soup/chili or as a way to get something quick when I haven't eaten and don't have time to sit and eat.

Best to y'all!

Depends on the day for me. I generally avoid it because it tends to hurt going down but there are some days where I can tolerate it fine.

Sometimes I can, sometimes I can't. I do a lot of "deconstruction" of things with bread and tortillas. I use them as a handle and tear away to get to the filling. I can usually consume one piece of bread. But if I take a bite that is too big, it will get stuck at my new fill level of a few weeks ago.

My best bet now is to eat with a knife and fork to make the bites even smaller.

I pretty much stay away from bread but my family loves Daves Killer bread. Once in a great while I will toast me a slice.

I normally do not eat to much bread. Usually like to get the Protein style cheeseburger at IN N out. If I do eat a hamburger at a restaurant most of the time I do not order a bun.

If I eat fajitas in a restaurant I will order corn tortillas but usually only eat one tortilla

Meal times are much to precious to spend time eating bread, bring on the meat.

 i think it depends on your fill at the time....

i had 3cc's the day of surgery...maybe somewhere around the 2nd-3rd wrk i was back to my old bread eating ways....

after my 1st fill to 4cc's....it is pretty uncomfortable goin down..its definitely a bump in the road...

Maybe next week (3rd week at 4cc's) i may give it another go...

:P :P :P

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
