LuvStarfish 1 Posted September 12, 2013 It will be 4 wks postop for me tomorrow. I had my first fill today and found out I have a seroma. I had 10cc of Fluid drained and the NP had to stop since it was so painful. I have to go back in a week to have it drained again. I am hoping it will heal quickly. I only lost 5lbs since surgery and was upset at that. My first postop didn't go to well. Anyone else have a Seroma and little weight loss after surgery? DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! 12,703 Posted September 12, 2013 Seromas are more common than most realize, especially in obese patients. This is true with all abdominal surgeries not just Lap Band. I have had one before from a different surgery so I know how awful they are to deal with. My brother is currently dealing with one from a hernia surgery, too. I know having it drained is awful but if the Fluid isn't finding it's way out on it's own, draining is necessary. If that Fluid stays inside you it can lead to infection. For me, it took a couple months for it to finally clear up. My brother is going on a month with his and it's draining considerably. Be patient and follow up with your doctor as directed. This will pass. Best wishes. 1 JOANNE M HOLL reacted to this

n2win 123 Posted September 12, 2013 I had about 8-10 cc removed on my first fill 3 wks post-op. It was very uncomfortable when my doc aspirated the Fluid out via syringe but not overly painful. It was a single occurrence and no issues since, currently 8 wks post-op. I was down around 14 lbs at the 3 wk mark BUT measured all intake, kept a food diary, exercised daily, maintained 800calorie diet & consumed my required Water.... and still do. Just don't get discouraged, remember everyone drops wt at different rates and this too shall pass! --wish you the best-- 1 JOANNE M HOLL reacted to this
