Ok...so I'm scared now..

Recommended Posts

I've known for a long time I wanted to be banded. I've done the research, I finally got financing and my surgery date ( may 26th in MX), and now as I read this forum I get so scared. Band removal, weight loss of 15 pounds in a year..pain...agony...is it all really that bad???? I know that Im getting more and more scared every post I read....and then..I see the before and after pictures..and they are amazing. I see that some people can do it...but are there more failures than winners??? Someone give a bright light of hope...I sure could use it.:nervous

GreatDame,

Seriously... everyone has a different experience but be rest assured that just by reading the posts... the majority of folks are doing rather well.

I'd say.. read all of it.. learn from us and our mistakes b/c you will clearly see triumphs, successful habits and major mistakes. Treat LBT as a "Q&A" site, with interativeness :)

Don't worry about a thing. Go into it with confidence.

I myself am doing ok.

People just talk about it more when they are having issues, looking for advice etc. Not many people start a thread saying hey I'm almost 2 yrs out and had no major issues to date. :) Or that would be me, Ive only been too tight twice and knew it within 3 days after fill and had it removed.

I believe there are alot of success stories out there, Maybe I'll start a thread :nono: you've inspired me!

Since this is a supprot forum, people come here when they are having problems and need advice or help. Most of us go along day to day without any serious problems and like PlunderBunny said, we don't say "I'm doing great". This is the safest weight loss option, I believe, and while we occasionally have discomfort, I'd do it again in a second, as would most people here. You might want to check out some of the polls asking if people would do it again...overwhelmingly the answer is yes.

Hope this helps set your mind at ease...

Emily

GreatDame -- I was banded in Mexico last week and the first day or two were fairly painful except the doc gave me some painkillers and they worked. You just have to get the gas out. I'm still passing gas. But I already lost 4 pounds. It may be Water weight, but I still lost 4 pounds in 4 days. That may slow down, but I don't care. Eventually, I'll be thinner and healthier. So don't lose heart. Go down there and give it the old college try. I hope you're going to Santa Engracias which is where I went. The hospital is like a 4 star hotel. I've stayed in a lot of nice hotels but never one as nice as that hospital. The worst part of the whole trip was flying on American Airlines. They were just awful, but I got back at them by passing a whole lot of gas on their planes. flatulence is always a good way to punish people. Good luck.
