kate85 6 Posted September 12, 2013 I know this is not really a preg question but I thought being a group of wemon it would be good to ask here. I was banded on the 9th of may 2013 and skipped a period that month. I then had my period in June and July and they were normal but have not had one since and it is almost three months. Has anyone else had the same problem. I have lost 56 pounds in just under 4 months. My Surgion and dietian think it is because of the big quick weight loss. blondegal_ 1,028 Posted September 12, 2013 Have you done an OTC pregnancy test? That would be one place to start. But usually if you haven't had a period for 90 days, you should go see your obgyn. Loosing weight can affect you but it's better to be safe and get checked out.

louloumoo 22 Posted September 12, 2013 If u google Ketosis and the effects of periods u may get an answer, periods do stop in periods of "starvation" but should return soon enough without problem... But I ain't no expert. X
GoingforGoal 1,734 Posted September 12, 2013 Its not safe to get pregnant so soon after getting banded. The recommendation is to wait at least one year to allow for maximum weight loss and to allow the body to adjust to all the new demands the band has put on it. Although I understand your concerns and your desire to go IVF, this is in conflict with your being banded a mere 4 months ago. If you already know this, I would just track your MP for the remainder of your year. With any large weight loss there are hormonal shifts. Woman who have irregular periods, suddenly menstruate normally. Woman with PCOS are suddenly fertile again. etc. For a precaution, you can followup with your OB. However, the correlation between your recent surgery and wl and a change in your period is high and the most likely explanation.
