Just stay away from gas producing foods or drinks. How long as it been since you were banded?

No problem flying w/ the band. Stay well hydrated, drink only Water to keep the stoma as patent as possible. Stay away from salt foods as well. Some people complain about feeling tighter. Ithink it depends on how long the flight is and how hydrated you stay. My hub (banded also) flies internationally all the time for over 18 hrs and does fine just to give you a perspective.

I just got back from flying to Colorado from Fla. no problems... I also only drank Water and I carried a Protein Bar or two wish me just in case we got stuck somewhere...I did not notice any tightening.. My Dr. would not give me a fill prior to my flight he says in case of problems I would not be close enough if I needed help...

I never understood the fear........it's not like the airlines serve full meals anymore.....

I fly all the time on business....no difference....maybe it's the Vodka Tonics.....

I fly often, short flights and very long flights. No problems whatsoever. Good to stay hydrated as mentioned above, and be aware of whatever you might choose to eat. I cannot imagine being 'stuck' while confined in an airplane seat! Absolutely no reason for that to happen if you're paying attention. I guess what I'm saying is, you won't even notice your band, but don't forget it's there, either!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
