i was banded on october 25th. surgery went pretty well, just had issues with my heartrate in recovery. the gas pain was not fun at all, but is now better on day 4. question for everyone. i was told i would only need to be off work until the 4th of november but then my surgeon wrote nov 11th on my paperwork. is 2 weeks normal for recovery time for being off work?

What kind of work do you do? I have a desk job and was off work for a week.

I am an RN 12 hour shifts on a busy post op floor. I went back after 1 week. Most of my co workers know that I can't lift over 20 lbs so I can't "boost patients" Lift them up in bed, move beds etc.

Hi there! Welcome to the club. I got banded on the 11th, I took a week off work. However I live in NYC and traffic here is crazy. So I ended up taking off two weeks because I wanted to make sure my incisions had healed properly.

2 weeks post op and finally feeling better. Port area is still sore as expected. Went to the park today and walked 1.8 miles. This week I can have fish & ground beef but no chicken yet. I will be focusing on my Protein and veggies and fruit. Just ate almonds and they went down ok. Still get gassy from time to time but it passes very easily. So far the only thing I can't tolerate is any type of red drinks. No more fruit punch Crystal Light or red Powerade.< /p>

Finally found this group :) I was banded 10/24. I think it would be great to keep in touch with each other as we all move along in this process at relatively the same time. Hope everyone is doing well!!

I was banded 10/30 and I am feeling ok so far. The port site still hurts and I am so looking forward to the mushy foods. I have never looked forward to a scrambled eggs so much in my life :) I am getting up around MUCH better then the first few days. Really bad pain at the base of my neck, driving me crazy ............. But, looking forward to the journey.

I really am sucking at getting my Protein and liquid in. I got myself a kidney infection! Not fun! Last thing anyone needs post op! Let this be a lesson to us all to drink tons of water!

Banded on 10/24 and had my post op appt today. Surgeon said I am healing great and to keep it up :) I have been feeling ravenous as of Saturday so I now have my first fill scheduled for 11/18! Im very excited, but trying to be realistic in that it may take many fills to feel "restriction". Hope everyone else is doing well. Happy Monday!

My first fill won't be until Dec 5. My surgeon told me 6 weeks post op. Mine is actually 7 weeks post op because Thanksgiving and Black.Friday are getting in my way. Besides that she said my incision sites look like they used the microscopic surgery on me.....but they didn't she has given me the approval to use the Arc and Elliptical machines at the gym. My first post op trip to the gym is tomorrow AM

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
